21. Molecular Electronics : A Theoretical Study of Electronic Structure of Bulk and Interfaces
Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with theoretical studies of the electronic structure of molecules used in the context of molecular electronics. Both studies with model Hamiltonians and first principle calculations have been performed. LÄS MER
22. Theoretical Description of the Electron-Lattice Interaction in Molecular and Magnetic Crystals
Sammanfattning : Electron-lattice interactions are often considered not to play a major role in material's properties as they are assumed to be small, the second-order effects. However, this study shows the importance of taking these effects into account in the simulations. LÄS MER
23. High-resolution characterization of TiN diffusion barrier layers
Sammanfattning : Titanium nitride (TiN) films are widely applied as diffusion barrier layers in microelectronic devices. The continued miniaturization of such devices not only poses new challenges to material systems design, but also puts high demands on characterization techniques. LÄS MER
24. Quantum Few-Body Physics with the Configuration Interaction Approach: Method Development and Application to Physical Systems
Sammanfattning : This dissertation, based on six included papers, theoretically investigates properties of quantum few-particle systems. An overview of related experimental research - ultra-cold trapped dilute gases, and electrons in quantum dots - is given, followed by a description of some of the studied many-particle phenomena - Bose-Einstein condensation, quantized vortices, Wigner localization and the Tonks-Girardeau gas. 25. At the heart of Quantum Materials: Magnetism as a means and an end from a muon perspective
Sammanfattning : Functional materials are at the center of solid state physics research and technological innovation in our era. In order to create (semi)autonomous, high precision and lightning-fast devices it is necessary to explore, modify and control the intrinsic properties of matter. LÄS MER
