1. Mechanistic-Empirical Modelling of Flexible Pavement Performance : Verifications Using APT Measurements
Sammanfattning : Mechanistic-Empirical (M-E) pavement design procedures are composed of a reliable response model to estimate the state of stress in the pavement and distress models in order to predict the different types of pavement distresses due to the prevailing traffic and environmental conditions. One of the main objectives of this study was to develop a response model based on multilayer elastic theory (MLET) with improved computational performance by optimizing the time consuming parts of the MLET processes. 2. High-resolution characterization of TiN diffusion barrier layers
Sammanfattning : Titanium nitride (TiN) films are widely applied as diffusion barrier layers in microelectronic devices. The continued miniaturization of such devices not only poses new challenges to material systems design, but also puts high demands on characterization techniques. LÄS MER
3. Microstructural investigation of CVD TiAlN, TiN and WN coatings
Sammanfattning : High speed machining of workpiece materials puts extreme thermal and pressure loads onto the cutting tool inserts, which thus must possess both high hardness and good toughness. Nowadays, most cutting tools are made of cemented carbide substrates that are coated with wear-resistant coatings. LÄS MER
4. Microstructure Development of WC-Co Based Cemented Carbides During Creep Testing
Sammanfattning : The aim of this work is to understand the mechanisms behind the plastic deformation of WC‐Co based cemented carbides. The microstructure of two series with different WC grain size was investigated before and after creep deformation using quantitative microscopy, atom probe tomography, and transmission electron microscopy. 5. Microstructure Investigation of the Oxidation Process in Zircaloy-2 - The Effect of Intermetallic Particle Size
Sammanfattning : Zirconium alloys are widely used in nuclear reactors as fuel cladding tubes because of their low thermal neutron capture cross-section, good corrosion properties and satisfactory mechanical properties. With an improved corrosion resistance the alloys could be used for much longer times in the reactors, increasing fuel burn-up and decreasing the amount of radioactive waste. LÄS MER
