  1. 26. Affibody molecules targeting the epidermal growth factor receptor for tumor imaging applications

    Författare :Mikaela Friedman; Stefan Ståhl; Fredrik Nilsson; James S. Huston; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Affibody; affinity maturation; phage display selection; EGFR; molecular imaging; protein engineering; tumor targeting; Bioengineering; Bioteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Tumor targeting and molecular imaging of protein markers specific for or overexpressed in tumors can add useful information in deciding upon treatment and assessing the response to treatment for a cancer patient. The epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) is one such tumor-associated receptor, which expression is abnormal or upregulated in various cancers and associated with a poor patient prognosis. 2. 27. Constraint-based modeling of metabolism - interpreting predictions of growth and ATP synthesis in human and yeast

    Författare :Avlant Nilsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; the Crabtree effect; enzyme-constraints; stunting; cellular economy; the Warburg effect; uncoupling; tumor; flux balance analysis; lactate threshold; metabolite depletion;

    Sammanfattning : Growth is the primary objective of the cell. Diseases arise when cells diverge from a healthy growth-pattern. An increased understanding of cellular growth may thus be translated into improved human health. The cell requires materials and free energy (in the form of ATP) in order to grow, metabolism supplies the cell with this. LÄS MER

  3. 28. Growth regulation in sarcomas : studies in vivo and in cell culture

    Författare :Avni Abdiu; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Sammanfattning : Sarcomas are malignant tumors of mesenchymal origin, and can arise in soft-tissue and in bones. It has been suggested that the abnormal growth regulation in sarcoma cells may be due to an autocrine mechanism, in which the cells are stimulated by an endogenous production of growth factors. 4. 29. Tumor Selective Antiproliferative Naphthoxylosides

    Författare :Ulrika Aili; Glykobiologigruppen; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; glycosaminoglycan; proteoglycan; heparan sulfate; xyloside; naphthoxyloside; histone H3 acetylation;

    Sammanfattning : Proteoglycans (PG) are highly anionic macromolecules consisting of a core protein covalently substituted with long unbranched polysaccharide chains called glycosaminoglycans (GAGs). PGs are central components in multicellular organisms, and they may occur in the extracellular matrix (ECM), at the cell surface, or in the secretory pathway. LÄS MER

  5. 30. Estrogens and lymphoma growth

    Författare :Muhammad Sharif Hasni; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Lymphomas are generally not considered as endocrine-associated cancers. Nevertheless, most lymphoid malignancies show a gender differencein incidence and prognosis, with males being more affected.The molecular mechanism for this gender difference is unknown. LÄS MER
