  1. 6. Conifer Evolution, from Demography and Local Adaptation to Evolutionary Rates : Examples from the Picea genus

    Författare :Jun Chen; Martin Lascoux; Ulf Lagercrantz; Matt Olson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Speciation; Demographics; clinal variation; convergent evolution; transcriptome; small regulatory RNA; Biologi med inriktning mot evolutionär funktionsgenomik; Biology with specialization in Evolutionary Functional Genomics; Biology with specialization in Evolutionary Genetics; Biologi med inriktning mot evolutionär genetik;

    Sammanfattning : Evolutionary process can be inferred at three different levels: the species level, the population level and the molecular level. In this thesis, I applied approaches at these three levels and aimed to get a comprehensive picture of conifer evolution, from speciation and demography to geographic variation and local adaptation, and then to the molecular evolution of proteins and small regulatory RNAs. 2. 7. Regulation of the vertebrate transcriptome in development and disease

    Författare :Helena Storvall; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : In the last decade we have seen a tremendous development in the omics area (genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics etc.), making high throughput methods increasingly costeffective and available. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Coevolution and molecular background of species interactions in geographic mosaics

    Författare :Xuyue Yang; Peter A. Hambäck; Michael R. Strand; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; transcriptomics; population genetics; insect immunology; parasitoid; genome assembly; natural selection; Ecology and Evolution; ekologi och evolution;

    Sammanfattning : In complex food webs, species often interact with each other indirectly through mediating species. As a result of geographic mosaic of coevolution, such interactions are often evolutionarily unstable and the traits governing the interaction sometimes vary over time. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Evolutionary genomics of host-microbe interactions

    Författare :Elin Videvall; MEMEG; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; host; microbiota; avian malaria; ostrich; parasite; dual RNA-seq;

    Sammanfattning : The microbes living inside hosts have highly important consequences for host health and fitness. From the host’s perspective, some microbes exhibit mutualistic tendencies, others parasitic, and some commensal, but this is context-dependent and opportunistic lifestyles are widespread in nature. 5. 10. Genome-wide Characterization of RNA Expression and Processing

    Författare :Ammar Zaghlool; Lars Feuk; Rickard Sandberg; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; RNA sequencing; RNA splicing; RNA processing; Gene expression; Molekylär genetik; Molecular Genetics;

    Sammanfattning : The production of fully mature protein-coding transcripts is an intricate process that involves numerous regulation steps. The complexity of these steps provides the means for multilayered control of gene expression. LÄS MER
