  1. 1. Internal frost damage in concrete - experimental studies of destruction mechanisms

    Författare :Katja Fridh; Avdelningen för Byggnadsmaterial; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; tining; frysning; kallt klimat; frostskador skador; betong; materiallära; materialteknik; frost; ice formation; material technology; calorimetry; concrete; length change; upptining; fukt; beständighet; livslängd; forskning;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of the study was to identify mechanisms acting at internal frost destruction of concrete. By 'internal frost destruction' is meant damage caused inside concrete that is moisture insulated from the surroundings, i.e. when no moisture exchange with the surroundings is possible during freeze-thaw. 2. 2. Artificial Ground Freezingin Clayey Soils : Laboratory and Field Studies of Deformations During Thawing at the Bothnia Line

    Författare :Teddy Johansson; Staffan Hintze; Håkan Stille; Sven Knutsson; Kauko Kujala; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Artificial ground freezing; AGF; thaw deformation; deformation; thawing; frost heaving; Bothnia Line.; Artificiell markfrysning; artificiell jord- och bergfrysning; AGF; tiningsdeformation; deformation; tining; tjälhävning; Botniabanan; Geoengineering; Geoteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Artificial ground freezing as a method to temporarily stabilize and create hydraulic sealing in urban as well as in rural areas has been used in a number of Swedish construction projects, particularly during the last decade. One problem with the freezing of soil and rock is that fine-grained clayey types of soils have showed a tendency to under certain circumstances, during the thawing process, create a pore water overpressure and to consolidate, despite a change in the external loading conditions. 4. 4. Stabilization of fine-grained soils in cold environment and exposed to seasonal frost : By-products as hydraulic binders

    Författare :Mirja Rothhämel; Jan Laue; Sven Knutsson; Craig Lake; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; soft soil; clay; silt; silty sand; soil stabilisation; hydraulic binder; cement; lime; by-product; cement kiln dust CKD ; cold climate; frost; freeze-thaw; laboratory test; field test; subsoil; road construction; feinkörninge Böden; Ton; Schluff; schluffiger Sand; Bodenstabilisierung; hydraulische Bindemittel; Zement; Kalk; Nebenprodukt; Zementofenstaub; kaltes Klima; Frost; Frost-Tau; Laborversuche; Feldversuche; Verkehrsbau; Dauerhaftigkeit; finkornig jord; lera; silt; siltig sand; jordstabilisering; hydraulisk bindemedel; cement; kalk; biprodukt; cement kiln dust CKD ; kallt klimat; frost; frysning-tining; laboratorieanalyser; fältförsök; vägterrass; Geoteknik; Soil Mechanics;

    Sammanfattning : This doctoral thesis deals with the stabilization of fine-grained soils using by-product originated hydraulic binders. The use of fine-grained soils as subsoil for infrastructure projects is often limited because of the risk for instability. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Coupled processes in seasonally frozen soils : Merging experiments and simulations

    Författare :Mousong Wu; Per-Erik Jansson; Bjorn Klove; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; Frozen soil; Coupled transport; Energy balance; Uncertainties; Merged study; 冻土;水热盐运移;耦合关系;水热平衡;不确定性; Mark- och vattenteknik; Land and Water Resources Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : Soil freezing/thawing is of importance in the transport of water, heat and solute, with coupled effects. Due to complexity in soil freezing/thawing, uncertainty could be influential in both experimentation and simulation work in frozen soils. LÄS MER
