  1. 16. Enhancing the circular economy: Resource recovery through thermochemical conversion processes of landfill waste and biomass

    Författare :Ilman Nuran Zaini; Weihong Yang; Pär Jönsson; Ashwani K. Gupta; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; gasification; pyrolysis; waste-to-energy; landfill waste; hydrogen production; circular economy; municipal solid waste; Teknisk materialvetenskap; Materials Science and Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : Currently, the global economy looses a considerable amount of potential secondary raw materials from the disposed waste streams. Furthermore, the existing landfill sites that often do not have proper environmental protection technologies pose a long-lasting risk for the environment, which urge immediate actions for landfill remediations. 2. 17. Pretreatment and Enzymatic Treatment of Spruce : A functional designed wood components separation for a future biorefinery

    Författare :Yan Wang; Gunnar Henriksson; Mikael E. Lindström; Hans Theliander; Martin Lawoko; Adriaan van Heiningen; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; kraft cooking; extended impregnation; enzymes; chemo-enzymatic separation process; peeling reaction; sodium borohydride; polysulfide; anthraquinone; sodium dithionite; mild steam explosion; biorefinery.; Fiber- och polymervetenskap; Fibre and Polymer Science;

    Sammanfattning : The three main components of wood, namely, cellulose, hemicellulose, and lignin, can be used in various areas. However, since lignin covalently crosslinks with wood polysaccharides creating networks that is an obstacle for extraction, direct extraction of different wood components in high yield is not an easy matter. 3. 18. Production of Hydrogen for Oil Refining by Thermal Gasification of Biomass: Process Design, Integration and Evaluation

    Författare :Jean-Florian Brau; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Hydrogen; Modeling; Refining; Biomass Gasification; Energy Systems; Process Integration;

    Sammanfattning : Hydrogen is an important part of crude oil refining operations since it is required in several units for the desulphurization and upgrading of various oil fractions. At present, most of the refineries meet their hydrogen demand through methane steam reforming, a refinery unit that can represent up to 25% of the plant’s fossil CO2 emissions. LÄS MER

  4. 19. Turbomachinery in Biofuel Production

    Författare :Martin Görling; Mats Westermark; Simon Harvey; Bengt Hylander; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Bio-Methanol; Biomass; Gasification; Humidification; Hybrid Cycle; SNG; Chemical energy engineering; Kemisk energiteknik;

    Sammanfattning : The aim for this study has been to evaluate the integration potential of turbo-machinery into the production processes of biofuels. The focus has been on bio-fuel produced via biomass gasification; mainly methanol and synthetic natural gas. The research has been divided into two parts; gas and steam turbine applications. LÄS MER
