1. Six Sigma management. Action research with some contributions to theories and methods
Sammanfattning : Many companies around the world have implemented Six Sigma as a problem solving methodology especially useful for dealing with recurring problems in business processes. Since the 1980s when it was developed at Motorola, many companies have tried to implement Six Sigma to fit their own company’s culture and goals. LÄS MER
2. Going Round in Circles : From Sigma Models to Vertex Algebras and Back
Sammanfattning : In this thesis, we investigate sigma models and algebraic structures emerging from a Hamiltonian description of their dynamics, both in a classical and in a quantum setup. More specifically, we derive the phase space structures together with the Hamiltonians for the bosonic two-dimensional non-linear sigma model, and also for the N=1 and N=2 supersymmetric models. 3. Quality-driven logistics
Sammanfattning : The overall objective of this thesis is to describe and explain how different quality management philosophies can be combined in the supply/demand chain, in order to contribute to its resilience. The analysis is both quantitative and qualitative, based on theory and literature related to TQM, Lean, Agile and Six Sigma, one literature study and three case studies that were performed in companies. 4. Twisting and Gluing : On Topological Field Theories, Sigma Models and Vertex Algebras
Sammanfattning : This thesis consists of two parts, which can be read separately. In the first part we study aspects of topological field theories. We show how to topologically twist three-dimensional N=2 supersymmetric Chern-Simons theory using a contact structure on the underlying manifold. LÄS MER
5. Supply chain resilience through quality management
Sammanfattning : The length and complexity of the supply chain tend to increase, rather than diminish, thereby making the supply chain riskier and less predictable and, hence, more vulnerable. At the same time, customers are becoming increasingly demanding. LÄS MER
