  1. 11. Regulation of insulin-like growth factor-1 receptor expression and signaling

    Författare :Radu Vasilcanu; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :IGF-1R; â-arrestins; MDM2; ubiquitination; internalization;

    Sammanfattning : Insulin-like growth factor-1 receptor (IGF-1R), a member of the insulin receptor tyrosine kinase family is a broadly expressed transmembrane receptor that plays a key role in malignant cell growth. IGF-1R transmits information provided by extracellular stimuli into intracellular signaling pathways resulting in the subsequent regulation of various effector systems. LÄS MER

  2. 12. Regulation of NMDA receptor properties by amino acids and cations : a biochemical and electrophysiological study

    Författare :Yun Liu; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :NMDA receptor; Glutamate; Glycine; [3H]MK-801 binding; Magnesium; Calcium; Tris; Potassium; Sodium; Proton; Xenopus oocytes; Spinal cord; Cerebral cortex; Receptor binding; Electrophysiology;

    Sammanfattning : NMDA receptors are glutamate-regulated ion channels that are permeable to Ca2+, Na+ and K+ and are sensitive to voltage-dependent Mg2+-block. To investigate the modulatory effects of amino acids and cations on NMDA receptors and the possible regional differences in the pharmacology of NMDA receptors, I used mainly two techniques in this thesis: electrophysiological analysis of expressed NMDA receptors in Xenopusoocytes and biochemical receptor binding using [3H]MK-801 in membrane preparations from the rat cerebral cortex and spinal cord. 3. 13. ß-Adrenergic receptor gene polymorphism in dilated cardiomyopathy. Clinical and functional relevance

    Författare :Malin Levin; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : During normal physiological conditions, catecholamines induce positive inotropic and chronotropic responses in the heart through a ß-adrenergic receptor (AR)-activated pathway. The agonist-bound ßAR selectively interacts with the stimulatory Gs-protein, which activates adenylyl cyclase, catalyzing cAMP formation. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Canonical and noncanonical transducers for calcium signaling : role of Na,K-ATPase and angiotensin receptor

    Författare :Zuzana Khorshidi; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Calcium (Ca2+) is the most universal and versatile signal in the cell. This versatility is based on the speed, amplitude and spatio-temporal patterning of the Ca2+ events. The inositol 1,4,5-trisphosphate receptor (IP3R) is one of the main Ca2+ channels responsible for the Ca2+ release from the intracellular stores. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Adrenergic receptors in brown adipose tissue

    Författare :Jan Svartengren; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : The purpose of this study was to identify adrenergic receptors and to investigate their regulation of physiological processes in brown adipose tissue.Isolated hamster brown fat cells and plasma membrane fractions contained a high number of α1- and β1-adrenergic receptors, as assessed by direct radioligand binding techniques using (3H)prazosin and (-)(3H)dihydroalprenolol, respectively.
