31. Tree Models for Design Space Exploration in Aerospace Engineering
Sammanfattning : A crucial issue in the design of aircraft components is the evaluation of a larger number of potential design alternatives. This evaluation involves too expensive procedures, consequently, it slows down the search for optimal design samples. LÄS MER
32. Conceptual Design of Propulsion Systems for Boundary Layer Ingestion
Sammanfattning : To reduce the climate impact of aviation new aircraft and engine concepts as well as improved design methods are needed. In this thesis, two fronts are explored. The first concerns improved methods for the conceptual design of the engine. LÄS MER
33. Imaging Chronic Pain and Inflammation : Positron Emission Tomography Studies of Whiplash Associated Disorder
Sammanfattning : This thesis is on chronic neck pain after a rear impact car injury, so called whiplash associated disorder (WAD). Three empirical studies using positron emission tomography (PET) with different radioligands have been performed. LÄS MER
34. Towards computational models for road-user interaction: Drivers overtaking pedestrians and cyclists
Sammanfattning : Introduction: Crashes resulting from a failed interaction between drivers and vulnerable road users, such as pedestrians or cyclists, can lead to severe injuries or fatalities, especially after failed overtaking maneuvers on rural roads where designated refuge areas are often absent, and impact speeds high. This thesis contains two studies that shed light on driver interaction with either 1) a pedestrian or 2) a cyclist, and oncoming traffic while overtaking. LÄS MER
35. Analysis of the Unsteady Flow Field of a Passenger Vehicle
Sammanfattning : Political legislation and consumer requirements for a sustainable society require that vehicle manufacturers focus on reduced fuel consumption and lower emissions. Areduction in the overall energy consumption can be directly linked to a decrease of the driving resistance, where the aerodynamic drag significantly contributes at velocities above 70km/h. LÄS MER
