  1. 16. The Role of Kidney Oxygen Homeostasis for the Development of Kidney Disease

    Författare :Carla Carvalho; Fredrik Palm; Peter Hansell; Malou Friederich; Jenny Nyström; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Oxygen; Kidney mitochondria; Hypoxia-inducible factors; Prolyl hydroxylase; von Hippel-Lindau; Diabetes; Aging; Kidney; Sodium; RAAS; Fysiologi; Physiology;

    Sammanfattning : The relation between oxygen supply and demand determines tissue oxygen tension (PO2). When intrarenal tissue PO2 decreases, any compensatory increase in oxygen supply via increased renal blood flow is likely to increase glomerular filtration rate. LÄS MER

  2. 17. Fibroblast growth factor-23 and Klotho in bone/mineral and parathyroid disorders

    Författare :Tijana Krajisnik; Tobias E. Larsson; Kenneth B. Jonsson; Östen Ljunggren; Peyman Björklund; Gunnar Sterner; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; calcitriol; chronic kidney disease; CKD; chronic renal failure; fibroblast growth factor 23; fibroblast growth factor-23; FGF23; FGF-23; GalNac-T3; GALNT3; GFR; hyperostosis-hyperphosphatemia syndrome; HHS; Klotho; parathyroid hormone; PTH; hyperparathyroidism; pHPT; sHPT; uremic; vitamin D3; Endocrinology; Endokrinologi; Internal Medicine; invärtesmedicin;

    Sammanfattning : Fibroblast growth factor-23 (FGF23) is a novel, bone-produced hormone that regulates renal phosphate (Pi) reabsorption and calcitriol metabolism. Disorders of mineral and bone metabolism, such as autosomal dominant hypophosphatemic rickets (ADHR) and hyperostosis-hyperphosphatemia syndrome (HHS), witness the importance of well-balanced serum levels of FGF23. 3. 18. Pathomechanism of diabetic nephropathy

    Författare :Anna Körner; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :diabetic nephropathy; hyperflltration; Na ; K - ATPase; Dahl rats; salt sensitive hypertension; glomerulosclerosis; polyol pathway activation; oxidative stress;

    Sammanfattning : Diabetic nephropathy is today the most common cause of end stage renal failure. The risk for developing overt diabetic nephropathy is considerably reduced by antihypertensive treatment, and adequate control of blood glucose. However, there is a need for additional and even more efficient tools to prevent this complication of diabetes. LÄS MER

  4. 19. The role of fibroblast growth factor-23 in chronic kidney disease-mineral and bone disorder

    Författare :Majd A. I. Mirza; Tobias Larsson; Tilman Drüeke; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; FGF23; FGF-23; CKD; CKD-MBD; cardiovascular disease; vascular function; atherosclerosis; hypertrophy; LVMI; LVH; fractures; bone; fat mass; obesity; apolipoproteins; cholesterol; lipids; Kidney diseases; Njursjukdomar; Cardiovascular medicine; Kardiovaskulär medicin; Medicinsk vetenskap; Medical Science;

    Sammanfattning : Fibroblast growth factor-23 (FGF23) was initially identified as the causative factor of autosomal dominant hypophosphatemic rickets. Further studies confirmed that FGF23 is predominantly expressed in the osteocytes and osteoblasts of bone and that circulating FGF23 acts on the kidney to inhibit renal phosphate reabsorption and 1,25(OH)2D3 hydroxylation. 5. 20. Astrophysical probes of axionlike particles

    Författare :Eike Christoph Ravensburg; M. C. David Marsh; Frank Wilczek; Joerg Jaeckel; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; astroparticle physics; axions; supernovae; physics beyond the standard model; dark matter; Theoretical Physics; teoretisk fysik;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis is a contribution to the search for new fundamental physics in the form of axionlike particles (ALPs). ALPs are relatively light and feebly interacting particles that are part of many theories extending the Standard Model of particle physics, e.g. LÄS MER
