  1. 16. Improving biomarker assessment in breast pathology

    Författare :Stephanie Robertson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : The accuracy of prognostic and therapy-predictive biomarker assessment in breast tumours is crucial for management and therapy decision in patients with breast cancer. In this thesis, biomarkers used in clinical practice with emphasise on Ki67 and HER2 were studied using several methods including immunocytochemistry, in situ hybridisation, gene expression assays and digital image analysis, with the overall aim to improve routine biomarker evaluation and clarify the prognostic potential in early breast cancer. 2. 17. An integrative strategy for targeted evaluation of biomarker expression in non-small cell lung cancer

    Författare :Johanna Mattsson; Patrick Micke; Johan Botling; Fredrik Pontén; Åslaug Helland; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; non-small cell lung cancer; prognostic biomarkers; predictive biomarkers; immunohistochemistry; gene expression; COX-2; claudin; ALK; Medicinsk vetenskap; Medical Science;

    Sammanfattning : Despite improvements in therapy, the prognosis for non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients remains poor, and cure is only possible in localized tumors after surgical resection. A new generation of targeted cancer drugs has led to the expectation that lung cancer therapy can be significantly improved, but these drugs are today only an option in a small subset of NSCLC patients, and their effect is temporary. 3. 18. New predictive and diagnostic biomarkers for preeclampsia

    Författare :Ulrik Dolberg Anderson; Lund Obstetrik och gynekologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Abstract Preeclampsia is a serious pregnancy complication that affects 3-8% of all pregnancies leading to maternal- and fetal morbidity and mortality. The etiology is still not known in detail. Previous findings have shown an up regulation of the genes coding for fetal hemoglobin (HbF) in preeclamptic placentas. LÄS MER

  4. 19. The role of RNA-binding motif 3 in epithelial ovarian cancer: A biomarker discovery approach

    Författare :Åsa Ehlén; Malmö Patologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; DNA integrity checkpoint; cisplatin treatment; prognostic predictive marker; RBM3; epithelial ovarian cancer; Chk1; Chk2; MCM3;

    Sammanfattning : Epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC) is the most lethal of all gynaecological malignancies and there is an urgent need to develop new prognostic and treatment predictive biomarkers for a more efficient therapy. The discovery of the RNA-binding motif protein 3 (RBM3) as a putative cancer biomarker was based on its differential expression in various cancer forms in the Human Protein Atlas (HPA). LÄS MER

  5. 20. Clinical evaluation and implications of left atrial remodeling in atrial fibrillation : From silent cerebral lesions and atrial stunning to novel electrocardiographic tools for prediction of arrhythmia outcome

    Författare :Panagiotis Arvanitis; Carina Blomström-Lundqvist; Mårten Rosenqvist; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Atrial fibrillation; left atrial remodeling; recurrence; new-onset; silent cerebral lesions; white matter hyperintensities; cardioversion; pulmonary vein isolation; risk factors; electrocardiographic predictors; P-wave indices; machine learning; predictive models; Covid-19;

    Sammanfattning : Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most common cardiac arrhythmia. Left atrial (LA) remodeling and reverse remodeling are associated with cerebral involvement and cognitive function (CF) changes. Risk stratification for AF related outcomes is essential in the management of patients with AF. LÄS MER
