  1. 1. Outcomes and safety of new techniques for pulmonary vein isolation in patients with paroxysmal and persistent atrial fibrillation : A study based on randomised trials and registries

    Författare :David Mörtsell; Carina Blomström-Lundqvist; Stefan Lönnerholm; Isabel Deisenhofer; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; atrial fibrillation; antiarrhythmic drugs; ablation; cryoballoon; radiofrequency; pulmonary vein isolation; quality of life; arrhythmia monitoring; implantable cardiac monitor; atrial fibrillation burden; health economics; Cardiology; Kardiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Atrial fibrillation (AF) is a common disease with a high prevalence in the adult population. Treatment of AF encompasses antiarrhythmic drugs and catheter ablation to reduce symptoms. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Epicardial ablation - a study evaluating thoracoscopic and surgical ablation procedures for patients with intractable atrial fibrillation

    Författare :Johan Probst; Carina Blomström-Lundqvist; Rasmus Borgquist; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; atrial fibrillation; epicardial ablation; surgical ablation; quality of life; pulmonary vein isolation; mitral valve surgery; concomitant surgery; Cardiology; Kardiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Atrial fibrillation (AF) is a common condition, increasing in prevalence with age. Symptoms can be severe and quality of life is affected in patients suffering from AF. Treatment regimes aim to alleviate symptoms through rate or rhythm control. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Stroke prevention in atrial fibrillation

    Författare :Sara Själander; Peter J. Svensson; Bo Carlberg; Håkan Walfridsson; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Atrial fibrillation; stroke; oral anticoagulation; aspirin; haemorrhage; electrical cardioversion; pulmonary vein isolation; Cardiology; kardiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Background: The Framingham Study from 1991 showed a clear correlation between atrial fibrillation (AF) and ischemic stroke, where patients with AF had an almost fivefold increase in risk of stroke compared with patients without AF. Since then, several trials have evaluated different antithrombotic treatments to reduce the risk of stroke in patients with AF. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Clinical evaluation and implications of left atrial remodeling in atrial fibrillation : From silent cerebral lesions and atrial stunning to novel electrocardiographic tools for prediction of arrhythmia outcome

    Författare :Panagiotis Arvanitis; Carina Blomström-Lundqvist; Mårten Rosenqvist; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Atrial fibrillation; left atrial remodeling; recurrence; new-onset; silent cerebral lesions; white matter hyperintensities; cardioversion; pulmonary vein isolation; risk factors; electrocardiographic predictors; P-wave indices; machine learning; predictive models; Covid-19;

    Sammanfattning : Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most common cardiac arrhythmia. Left atrial (LA) remodeling and reverse remodeling are associated with cerebral involvement and cognitive function (CF) changes. Risk stratification for AF related outcomes is essential in the management of patients with AF. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Atrial Conduction and P-wave Characteristics: From histology to electrophysiology

    Författare :Yan Huo; Kardiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Atrial fibrillation; Sinus rhythm; Histology; Electrophysiology; Human; P-wave Morphology; Variability of P-wave morphology; P-wave duration;

    Sammanfattning : P-wave morphology reflects the projection of the depolarization vector on the electrocardiogram (ECG)lead axes in three-dimentional space and reflects both right and left atrial activation. The main purpose of current thesis was to explore the internal logic between the atrial conduction properties, including intra- and inter- atrial conduction, and P-wave characteristics from the level of histology to electrophysiology.
