11. Ammonia as an Absorbent of Carbon Dioxide in Post-Combustion Capture - an Experimental, Technical and Economic Process Evaluation
Sammanfattning : Carbon capture and storage is vital to facilitating the transition from our current fossil fuel-based energy system to a sustainable energy system. The concept of post-combustion capture is based on the selective chemical absorption of carbon dioxide (CO2). LÄS MER
12. Model Developments to Study Some Aspects of Improving Efficiencies in EAF Plants
Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis is to investigate some aspects of improvements with respect to the energy consumption and raw material selection as well as the understanding of the influence of uncertainties on the performance in electric arc furnace (EAF) plants. The effect of electromagnetic stirring on the scrap melting and post combustion capacity are investigated in two EAFs by using computation fluid dynamic (CFD) models. LÄS MER
13. Sustainability measures in quicklime and cement clinker production
Sammanfattning : This thesis investigates sustainability measures for quicklime and cement clinker production. It is the aim of this thesis to contribute to the effort of creating a more sustainable modus of industrial production. LÄS MER
14. Energy and scrap optimisation of electric arc furnaces by statistical analysis of process data
Sammanfattning : Modern process logging systems for electric arc furnaces have the capability of storing large quantities of data, both in terms of variables and number of heats. The objective of this research is to evaluate how this data can be used for improvement of operating practices and optimisation of energy and scrap utilisation. LÄS MER
15. Formation and degradation of PCDD/F in waste incineration ashes
Sammanfattning : The disposal of combustible wastes by incineration is a controversial issue that is strongly debated by both scientists and environmental activists due to the resulting emissions of noxious compounds, including (inter alia) polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins (PCDDs), dibenzofurans (PCDFs), heavy metals and acid gases like sulfur dioxide. Currently available air pollution control devices are capable of effectively cleaning flue gases, and PCDD/F emissions to air from modern municipal solid waste (MSW) incinerators are low. LÄS MER
