  1. 6. Nanocellulose based 3D printed hydrogel scaffolds for cartilage and bone regeneration : Tuning of composition, pore structure and functions

    Författare :Sahar Sultan; Aji P. Mathew; Lennart Bergström; Gustav Nyström; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Nanocellulose materials; 3D printing; gradient biphasic hydrogel scaffolds; metal-organic frameworks; hydroxyapatite; cartilage and bone regeneration; osteochondral scaffolds; materialkemi; Materials Chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : Biobased-materials with customized scaffolds have played a prominent role in the success of tissue engineering (TE). Cellulose nanomaterials (CNM) isolated from the abundant biopolymer, cellulose, is explored in this thesis for TE engineering due to its versatile properties such as biocompatibility, high specific strength, surface functionality and water retention capacity. 2. 7. Methods for evaluation of early bone healing at titanium implants

    Författare :Karin Hederstierna; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TOF-SIMS; titanium; porosity; Magnesium; hydroxyapatite; implant surface; bone resorption; bone formation;

    Sammanfattning : Titanium has for a long time been the implant material of choice when in need for abilities as strength, biocompatibility and stability. Although numbers of studies have been made, little is known about the early events in implant healing. The primary aim in this thesis was to develop methods for evaluating bone healing around implants. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : Ceramics are distinguished from metals and polymers by their inorganic nature and lack of metallic properties. They can be highly crystalline to amorphous, and their physical and chemical properties can vary widely. LÄS MER

  4. 9. A clinical study of uncemented hip arthroplasty : radiological findings of host-bone reaction to the stem

    Författare :Henrik Bodén; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Arthroplasty; bone remodelling; DEXA; fixation; geometrical design; hydroxyapatite; osteoarthritis; scintigraphy; stem size; stress-shielding; tapered; titanium; uncemented; weight-bearing.;

    Sammanfattning : In total hip arthroplasty (THA), the main reason for failure leading to revision is aseptic loosening. Both mechanical and biological effects act in the loosening process, the factors may be implant design, fixation mode or technique, as well as biological factors unique to the individual. LÄS MER

  5. 10. The fixation of joint prostheses. Aspects on mechanics and biology

    Författare :Ulrik Hansson; Lund Ortopedi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; radiostereometry; histology; interface; micromotion; knee; joint replacement;

    Sammanfattning : Abstract: In the interface, between implant and bone or between the cement and bone, there will develop some amount of fibrous tissue. The synovial fluid, the synovium, the cartilage and the subchondral bone from the non-replaced knee compartment that had been exposed to wear particles were studied by histological analyses. LÄS MER
