  1. 6. Denitrification in a Non-nitrifying Activated Sludge System Employing Recirculation from a Tertiary Nitrification Unit

    Författare :Ann Mattsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; nitrogen removal; denitrification; activated sludge; post nitrification; pilot plant;

    Sammanfattning : A non-nitrifying, denitrifying activated sludge system has been demonstrated to give high denitrification rates and to be a useful component in a municipal wastewater treatment plant where partial nitrogen removal is required. One useful configuration is where clarified effluent from a non-nitrifying activated sludge system is nitrified in a tertiary nitrification unit and recirculated to the activated sludge system for denitrification. 2. 7. Fluid Catalytic Cracking Catalyst Demetallization and Reactivation, Modeling of Catalytic Cracking, and Use of Microwaves to Heat Fluid Beds

    Författare :Frank J. Elvin; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; pilot plant; nickel and vanadium deposition; catalyst; reactivation; demetallization; catalytic cracking; and microwave heating; MAT; fluid bed;

    Sammanfattning : The fluid catalytic cracking unit (FCCU), the major conversion unit in an oil refinery, uses a silica-alumina zeolite catalyst to convert heavy hydrocarbons to light hydrocarbons. A small fraction of the catalyst must be continually replaced with fresh catalyst to maintain activity. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Opportunities and uncertainties in the early stages of development of CO2 capture and storage

    Författare :Mårten Lind; Mats Westermark; Mohsen Assadi; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Acceptance; cement; CCS; CO2 capture and storage; early opportunities; enhanced oil recovery; expert opinions; hybrid power cycles; optimism; oxyfuel combustion; pressurised fluidised bed combustion; pilot plant; potassium carbonate; risk; Sargas; scenario studies; scientific uncertainty; stakeholder perceptions; Chemical process and manufacturing engineering; Kemisk process- och produktionsteknik;

    Sammanfattning : The topic of this thesis is carbon dioxide (CO2) capture and storage (CCS), which is a technology that is currently being promoted by industries, scientists and governments, among others, in order to mitigate climate change despite a continued use of fossil fuels. Because of the complex nature of CCS and the risks it entails, it is controversial. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Pilot Production and Manufacturing Start-up in the Automotive Industry. Principles for Improved Performance

    Författare :Henrik Almgren; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; disturbance control; performance; verification; manufacturing start-up; learning; pilot production; Swedish automotive industry; product and production preparation;

    Sammanfattning : The dissertation is based on experiences from Volvo Car Corporation and examines pilot production and manufacturing start-up, processes that are here combined under the rubric final verification of product and production system. The purpose of this dissertation is to study pilot production and manufacturing start-up in order, first, to identify and analyze factors affecting final verification performance and, secondly, to develop general principles for how final verification performance can be improved. 5. 10. Energy efficiency in the sodium chlorate process: From electrocatalysis to pilot plant investigations

    Författare :Kristoffer Hedenstedt; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Sodium chlorate; corrosion; mild steel; goethite; lepidocrocite; green rust; hypochlorite reduction; hydrogen evolution; in situ electrochemical Raman spectroscopy;

    Sammanfattning : Sodium chlorate is an important industrial chemical produced through an electrochemical manufacturing process. The global production rate is 3.6 million tons annually and consumes approximately 20 TWh of electrical power. The majority of the produced sodium chlorate is used as raw material to make chlorine dioxide for the bleaching of kraft pulp. LÄS MER
