11. Quantitative 3D reconstruction of porous polymers using FIB-SEM tomography -correlating materials structures to properties of coatings for controlled drug release
Sammanfattning : Porous networks are found in a wide range of different advanced and technologically important materials and influence the materials properties. The networks are active components in for example batteries, food and pharmaceuticals. The interconnectivity of a network strongly influences the transport properties. LÄS MER
12. Parallelization of dynamic algorithms for electronic structure calculations
Sammanfattning : The aim of electronic structure calculations is to simulate behavior of complex materials by resolving interactions between electrons and nuclei in atoms at the level of quantum mechanics. Progress in the field allows to reduce the computational complexity of the solution methods to linear so that the computational time scales proportionally to the size of the physical system. LÄS MER
13. Thermal detector with integrated absorber structure for mid-IR gas detection
Sammanfattning : Measurement of the concentration of greenhouse gases, such as carbon dioxide(CO 2 ) and methane (CH 4 ), in the atmosphere has received significant attention in the last few decades. This work focusses on the development of high-performance thermopile detectors for use with the non-dispersive infrared (NDIR) measurements of such gases. LÄS MER
14. The mucus layer and other barriers to intestinal drug absorption
Sammanfattning : The extraepithelial mucus layer acts as a barrier to the absorption and diffusion of drugs. Three in vitro models have been used for studies of this and other intestinal barriers to drug transport. A drug absorption model based on monolayers of the mucus-producing human intestinal goblet HT29-H cell line was developed. LÄS MER
15. Fracture and Delamination in Packaging Materials : A Study of Experimental Methods and Simulation Techniques
Sammanfattning : Packages are the means of preservation, distribution and convenience of use for food, medicine and other consumer products. The introduction of a new package-opening technique for a better opening experience requires additional prototype development and physical testing. LÄS MER
