  1. 21. Studies on dendritic cells and cytokines in inflammatory diseases of the central nervous system

    Författare :Mikhail Pashenkov; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Multiple sclerosis (MS) is characterised by chronic inflammation in the central nervous system (CNS), which results in primary demyelination, axonal loss and neurological deficit. MS is believed to be mediated by myelin antigen-reactive T cells, which after priming in the periphery enter the CNS and initiate demyelination. LÄS MER

  2. 22. Targeting NOX2 in cancer

    Författare :Ebru Aydin; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; cancer; reactive oxygen species; immunotherapy; nox2; nk cells; melanoma; histamine; metastasis; leukemia; aml; cml; kras; mpd;

    Sammanfattning : Reactive oxygen species (ROS) are short-lived, toxic derivatives of oxygen that are produced during mitochondrial respiration and by NADPH oxidases (NOX). By enzymatically generating ROS, the myeloid cell NOX2 plays a critical role in defense against bacteria and other microorganisms. LÄS MER

  3. 23. Dendritic cell and IgA responses in SIV and HIV-1 pathogenesis

    Författare :Johan Söderlund; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :DC; SIV; HIV-1; macaques; neutralizing antibodies; IgA;

    Sammanfattning : Simian immunodeficiency virus (SIV) as well as human immunodeficiency virus (HIV-1) can infect different subsets of dendritic cells (DC). Such cells may therefore not only be involved in the generation of recruitment of naïve T and B lymphocytes in induction of SIV/HIV-1 specific adaptive responses but also transmit virus from port of entrance to the secondary lymphoid compartment generating systemic viral spread. 4. 24. Human immune responses to SARS-Cov-2 and influenza A virus infection : from myeloid-derived suppressor cells and T cell functions to antibody responses

    Författare :Meng Yu; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Acute respiratory viral infections are the most frequent reason for medical consultations in the world. They cause substantial illness and death every year, especially in young children, the immunocompromised and the elderly, with a large span of disease severity ranging from mild to fatal. LÄS MER

  5. 25. Models of the lung tissue microenvironment for studies of human myeloid cell function

    Författare :Puran Chen; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Studies of the immune system requires knowledge concerning not only the perturbating event itself, i.e. specific microorganisms, and how it interacts with immune cells but also how it functions in its natural environment – tissues. LÄS MER
