31. A multivariate approach to the analysis of phytoplankton pigments
Sammanfattning : Photosynthetic pigments are routinely determined in investigations of marine and freshwater environments, chlorophyll is used as an estimator of phytoplankton biomass. Photosynthetic pigments are also widely used to characterise phytoplankton taxonomic composition. LÄS MER
32. Antiadhesive agents targeting uropathogenic Escherichia coli : Multivariate studies of protein-protein and protein-carbohydrate interactions
Sammanfattning : This thesis describes studies directed towards development of novel antiadhesive agents, with particular emphasis on compounds that prevent attachment of bacteria to a host-cell. Three different proteins involved in the assembly or function of adhesive pili in uropathogenic Escherichia coli have been targeted either by rational structure based design or statistical molecular methods. 33. Processing and analysis of NMR data : Impurity determination and metabolic profiling
Sammanfattning : This thesis describes the use of nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectrometry as an analytical tool. The theory of NMR spectroscopy in general and quantitative NMR spectrometry (qNMR) in particular is described and the instrumental properties and parameter setups for qNMR measurements are discussed. 34. Chemometric methods for analysis of spectroscopic data from batch process monitoring
Sammanfattning : Understanding of a process is essential for processdevelopment, optimisation and scale-up. In situ spectroscopy isan attractive measurement technique that can increase processunderstanding, since samples need not be retrieved from theprocess mixture. LÄS MER
35. Sensor-based knowledge- and data-driven methods : A case of Parkinson’s disease motor symptoms quantification
Sammanfattning : The overall aim of this thesis was to develop and evaluate new knowledge- and data-driven methods for supporting treatment and providing information for better assessment of Parkinson’s disease (PD).PD is complex and progressive. There is a large amount of inter- and intravariability in motor symptoms of patients with PD (PwPD). LÄS MER
