26. Olfactory Transfer of Analgesic Drugs After Nasal Administration
Sammanfattning : Nasal administration of analgesics for achieving rapid pain relief is currently a topic of great interest. The blood-brain barrier (BBB) restricts access to the central nervous system (CNS) for several central-acting drugs, such as morphine and dihydroergotamine, which results in a substantial effect delay. 27. Immune cells in pregnant uterine mucosa : functional properties, cellular composition and tissue organization
Sammanfattning : The pregnant uterus mucosa - decidua - is an "immunologically privileged" site. A semiallogeneic embryo is allowed to survive, develop, and grow while the same tissue implanted outside the uterus will be rejected. The decidua basalis, which participates in the placenta formation, is a tissue rich in lymphoid cells. LÄS MER
28. Human intestinal T lymphocytes : a comparative analysis of phenotype and function in normal and inflamed mucosa
Sammanfattning : The epithelial lining of the gut must allow immediate contact with beneficial components as nutrients and normal microflora. At the same time it runs the constant risk of attack from pathogenic microbes and noxious agents. LÄS MER
29. Vulvar vestibulitis syndrome : pathophysiology of the vestibular mucosa
Sammanfattning : Objective: The main purpose of the study was to survey possible pathophysiological changes of the vestibular mucosa in women with vulvar vestibulitis syndrome with regard to the clinical findings of superficial dyspareunia and mucosal erythema. Methods: Biopsies analysed with immunohistochemistry were used to study the morphology, distribution and neuropeptide content of the peripheral nerves, and the microvascularisation of the vestibular mucosa. 30. Phospholipase A2 expression in the human nasal mucosa
Sammanfattning : Phospholipase A2 (PLA2) is a superfamily of enzymes that play a key role in inflammation by releasing arachidonic acid for the synthesis of eicosanoids and lysophospholipid for the synthesis of platelet-activating factor (PAF). On the other hand, several members of the PLA2 family (VIIA, VIIB, VIIIA and VIIIB) are able to degrade PAF and are therefore potentially important anti-inflammatory enzymes. LÄS MER
