  1. 1. Active friction control by using CO2 and moisture

    Författare :Jing Hua; Shi Yijun; Shah Faiz; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; friction control; Machine Elements; Maskinelement;

    Sammanfattning : Nowadays the demand for intelligent control of tribological interactions is strongly increasing in various applications. We often strive to minimize friction but there are also many situations where high friction is desirable. In some cases, something in between, i.e. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Microwave sensors for scanning of sawn timber

    Författare :Nils Lundgren; Olle Hagman; Gary Schajer; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; microwave scanning; wood; density; moisture content; strength grading; finite element; Electronic measurement and instrumentation; Elektronisk mät- och apparatteknik; Träteknik;

    Sammanfattning : A microwave imaging sensor that measures the signal transmitted through a board was investigated with respect to the ability to predict the distribution of moisture and density in sawn lumber. Furthermore, the response from the sensor was related to strength properties of the boards. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Colour – A Reliable Quality-Control Tool for Industrial Thermowood® Production

    Författare :Petteri Torniainen; Dennis Jones; Olov Karlsson; Dick Sandberg; Henrik Veikko Juhani Heräjärvi; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; Thermally-modified timber; Thermo-S; Thermo-D; colour Lab; Scots pine; Pinus sylvestris; Norway spruce; Picea abies; quality control; Träteknik; Wood Science and Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : The objective of the work presented in this doctoral thesis has been to correlate the commercial output of  ThermoWood® process with a pre-defined, quantifiable, non-destructive measurable parameter - colour, and to show the feasibility of measurements to be the essential part of the internal and external quality-control system. Colour is the most evident property changed of thermally-modified timber (TMT). LÄS MER

  4. 4. Theoretical Modeling and Near-Infrared Spectroscopy Monitoring of Vial Lyophilization

    Författare :Mikael Brülls; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; in-situ; simulation; monitoring; spectral peak area analysis; near-infrared spectroscopy; lyophilization; moisture; sublimation; vial; mathematical model;

    Sammanfattning : The research documented in this thesis was directed towards lyophilization of pharmaceuticals in vials (vial lyophilization) and it was focused on the design and control of this process. Theoretical modeling has considerable potential to guide experimental studies, thereby decreasing development time and improving the possibilities to achieve an optimal and robust process design. 5. 5. Soil moisture conditions control nutrient accumulation, carbon storage and tree growth in boreal forest landscapes

    Författare :Johannes Larson; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Sammanfattning : Forest and soil properties change across landscapes due to the complex interactions between various environmental factors. In many landscapes, topography exerts a major influence on the variation in soil moisture conditions, which in turn largely affects soil properties and processes. LÄS MER
