16. Towards Gene Therapy of Osteopetrosis
Sammanfattning : The goal in this thesis is development of gene therapy for malignant infantile osteopetrosis (IMO), a rare but severe genetic bone disease. The concept of osteopetrosis implies dysfunction or lack of osteoclasts, the bone resorbing cells in our body, resulting in failure of normal bone breakdown. LÄS MER
17. Temperature-dependent structure and function of group A streptococcal M proteins
Sammanfattning : Temperature-dependent structure and function of group A streptococcal M proteins. This thesis describes the temperature-dependent structure of the members in the group A streptococcal M protein family. M proteins are cell-surface proteins that are important for the bacterial virulence and bind to a diverse set of human plasma proteins. LÄS MER
18. TRISMUS Incidence, Effects on Health-Related Quality of Life and Development of the Gothenburg Trismus Questionnaire
Sammanfattning : The word trismus is modern latin, derived from the greek word ”trismos” meaning ”grinding” or ”rasping”. Trismus is defined as a limitation in the mouth/jaw-opening ability due to a reduced mandible mobility. A Maximal Interincisal Opening, (MIO) ≤ 35mm is often used as the cut-off point for trismus. 19. Processing of TNF-receptors to soluble receptor forms in myeloid cells
Sammanfattning : TNF (Tumor Necrosis Factor) is a pro-inflammatory cytokine which binds to two cell surface receptors, TNF-R55 and TNF-R75. The receptors undergo proteolytic cleavage and release a fragment (soluble TNF-receptors or TNF-Binding Protein), TNF-R55-BP and TNF-R75-BP. Soluble TNF-receptors are able to bind and inactivate TNF. 20. Evolutionary and functional studies of protein H: a surface molecule of Streptococcus pyogenes
Sammanfattning : Several bacterial species express surface proteins with affinity for the Fc part of human IgG. This thesis describes evolutionary and functional studies of protein H, an IgGFc-binding surface protein of the human pathogen Streptococcus pyogenes. LÄS MER
