  1. 1. Studies in Applied Data Structures

    Författare :Kurt Swanson; Institutionen för datavetenskap; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Systems engineering; Sparse Matrix; Suffix Tree; Roundness; Range searching; Data- och systemvetenskap; computer technology;

    Sammanfattning : The design of efficient data structures is of primary importance in creation of theoretical algorithms as well their more tangible descendants, computer programs. In this dissertation we study computational aspects of data structures and their respective algorithms from a theoretical viewpoint, which are however of direct importance in the implementation of solutions for real-world problems. 2. 2. Perceptually motivated speech recognition and mispronunciation detection

    Författare :Christos Koniaris; Olov Engwall; Martin Cooke; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; feature extraction; feature selection; auditory models; MFCCs; speech recognition; distortion measures; perturbation analysis; psychoacoustics; human perception; sensitivity matrix; pronunciation error detection; phoneme; second language; perceptual assessment;

    Sammanfattning : This doctoral thesis is the result of a research effort performed in two fields of speech technology, i.e., speech recognition and mispronunciation detection. Although the two areas are clearly distinguishable, the proposed approaches share a common hypothesis based on psychoacoustic processing of speech signals. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Software tools for matrix canonical computations and web-based software library environments

    Författare :Pedher Johansson; Bo Kågström; Erik. Elmroth; Alan Edelman; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Canonical structure; Jordan canonical form; controllability; StratiGraph; Matlab toolbox; Kronecker canonical form; matrix; matrix pencil; perturbation theory; closure hirerarchy; matrix stratification; control system; observability; Numerical analysis; Numerisk analys;

    Sammanfattning : This dissertation addresses the development and use of novel software tools and environments for the computation and visualization of canonical information as well as stratification hierarchies for matrices and matrix pencils. The simplest standard shape to which a matrix pencil with a given set of eigenvalues can be reduced is called the Kronecker canonical form (KCF). LÄS MER

  4. 4. Capturing and Analysing Emotions to Support Organisational Learning : The Affect Based Learning Matrix

    Författare :Theresia Olsson Neve; Paul Johannesson; Janis Stirna; Marite Kirikova; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Knowledge Management; Organisational Learning; Emotions; Affects; Perspective Change; Knowledge Management Systems; Web-based Knowledge Management Support; Computer and systems science; Data- och systemvetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with the importance of managing employees’ thoughts and feelings in relation to organisational learning. To visualise and to identify affections within organisations is of major importance since most of our actions and the decisions we make are steered by our emotions rather than rational thinking. 5. 5. Radiation Oncology Data and Modelling Side Effects after Radiation Therapy

    Författare :Caroline Olsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; dose and side effect data; dose-volume response; fractionation effect; LQ model; sequential two-phase radiotherapy; head and neck cancer; parotid gland; xerostomia; pelvic radiotherapy; gynecological cancer; pubic bone; pain; data integration; xerostomia;

    Sammanfattning : Although modern radiation therapy techniques have the ability to conform the dose distribution of ionizing radiation tightly around the volume to be treated, unwanted irradiation to surrounding organs remains a problem. The probability of a side effect arising in the normal tissue of a patient after radiation therapy can be modelled by sigmoid mathematical functions known as normal tissue complication probability (NTCP) models.
