1. Characterization of factors interacting in CGI machining : machinability - material microstructure - material physical properties
Sammanfattning : The Swedish truck industry is forced to find new material solutions to achieve lighter engines with increased strength. Customers and new environmental regulations demand both higher specific power and more environmentally friendly trucks, and this places a rising pressure on the manufactures. LÄS MER
2. Rheocasting of Aluminium Alloys : Slurry Formation, Microstructure, and Properties
Sammanfattning : Innovative materials with novel properties are in great demand for use in the criticalcomponents of emerging technologies, which promise to be more cost-effective and energyefficient.A controversial issue with regard to manufacturing complex industrial products isto develop advanced materials with optimised manufacturability in addition to the requiredmechanical and physical properties. 3. Modelling Aspects in Forming and Welding of Nickel-Base Superalloys
Sammanfattning : The reduction of fuel consumption and carbon dioxide emissions are currently a key factor for the aviation industry because of major concerns about climate change and more restrictive environmental laws. One way to reduce both fuel consumption and CO2 emissions is by significantly decreasing the weight of vehicles while increasing the efficiency of the engine. LÄS MER
4. The influence of Al alloy microstructure on conversion coating formation
Sammanfattning : The formation of conversion coatings based on Ce, trivalent Cr and Ti/Zr is triggered by the local pH increase at cathodic IM sites of the aluminium alloy microstructure. The pH gradient is created over the cathodic intermetallic (IM) sites of the microstructure and its intensity is influenced by their activity which depends on their chemical composition, their size, and spatial distribution. 5. The influence of microstructure on mechanical and tribological properties of lamellar and compacted irons in engine applications
Sammanfattning : Lamellar graphite iron (LGI) is commonly used in diesel engine applications such as piston rings–cylinder liner where an excellent combination of physical and tribological properties is essential to avoid scuffing and bore polishing issues. The excellent tribological behaviour of LGI alloys is related to the graphite lamellas, which act as solid lubricant agents by feeding onto the tribosurfaces under sliding conditions. LÄS MER
