  1. 1. On the influence of imperfections on microstructure and properties of recycled Al-Si casting alloys

    Författare :Anton Bjurenstedt; Salem Seifeddine; Anders E.W. Jarfors; Arne Dahle; Johan Moverare; Jönköping University; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Imperfections; Recycled Al-Si alloys; Fe-rich intermetallics; Melt quality; Fractography; Defekter; Återvunna Al-Si legeringar; Fe-rika intermetaller; Smältakvalité; Fraktografi;

    Sammanfattning : There are great energy savings to be made by recycling aluminium; as little as 5% of the energy needed for primary aluminium production may be required. Striving to produce high quality aluminium castings requires knowledge of microstructural imperfections, which is extra important when casting recycled aluminium that generally contains higher levels of imperfections compared to primary aluminium. 2. 2. The influence of Al alloy microstructure on conversion coating formation

    Författare :Salil Sainis; Caterina Zanella; Ehsan Ghassemali; Jönköping University; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; aluminium alloys; cast Al-Si alloys; conversion coating treatment; cerium; localized deposition; surface pre-treatments; microstructure; SEM; FIB-SEM; AFM-SKPFM; aluminiumlegeringar; gjutna Al-Si legeringar; omvandlingsbeläggningar; cerium; lokaliserad deposition; ytförbehandlingar; microstruktur SEM; FIB-SEM; AFM-SKPFM;

    Sammanfattning : The formation of conversion coatings based on Ce, trivalent Cr and Ti/Zr is triggered by the local pH increase at cathodic IM sites of the aluminium alloy microstructure. The pH gradient is created over the cathodic intermetallic (IM) sites of the microstructure and its intensity is influenced by their activity which depends on their chemical composition, their size, and spatial distribution. 3. 3. An Insight into the Critical Role of Microstructure and Surface Preparation on Localized Conversion Coating Deposition on Cast Al Alloys

    Författare :Salil Sainis; Caterina Zanella; Ehsan Ghassemali; Marjorie Olivier; Jönköping University; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; aluminium alloys; cast Al-Si alloys; conversion coating treatment; cerium; localized deposition; surface preparation; microstructure; SEM; FIB-SEM; AFM-SKPFM; Aluminiumlegeringar; gjutna Al-Si legeringar; Cerium; lokal deposition; omvandlingsbeläggningsbehandling; förbehandling av yta; mikrostruktur; SEM; FIB-SEM; AFM-SKPFM;

    Sammanfattning : The spontaneous cerium conversion coating formation over aluminium alloys is affected by the chemical process conditions, the surface preparation prior to conversion treatment and the microstructure of the underlying alloy. Most research performed until now focus only on the former whereas the influence of the latter two is poorly understood. LÄS MER

  4. 4. On the influence of Si on anodising and mechanical properties of cast aluminium alloys

    Författare :Baiwei Zhu; Caterina Zanella; Salem Seifeddine; Peter Leisner; Jönköping University; []

    Sammanfattning : The combination of two cost-effective processes, i.e. casting and anodising, would be an interest for the aluminium component applications. However, there are some obstacles in the application of anodising on cast Al alloys. LÄS MER

  5. 5. The influence of microstructure on the crack initiation and propagation in Al-Si casting alloys

    Författare :Toni Bogdanoff; Salem Seifeddine; Ehsan Ghassemali; Anders E.W. Jarfors; Johan Moverare; Jönköping University; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Aluminum-Silicon alloys; scanning electron microscopy; material characterization; fatigue performance; digital image correlation;

    Sammanfattning : For reducing the CO2 footprint in many industrial fields, the goal is to produce lighter components. The aluminium-silicon (Al-Si) cast alloys are promising candidates to fulfill these goals with a high weight-to-strength ratio, good corrosion properties, excellent castability, and recyclable material.
