41. Characterizing Chromatography Media : NMR-based Approaches
Sammanfattning : Liquid chromatography is an essential technique in manufacturing biopharmaceuticals where it is used on all scales from analytical applications in R&D to full-scale production. In chromatography the target molecule, typically a protein, is separated and purified from other components and contaminants. LÄS MER
42. Structural Investigations of Complex Glasses by Solid-state NMR
Sammanfattning : This PhD thesis presents structural investigations of amorphous inorganic materials: oxide and oxynitride glasses and mesoporous bioactive glasses (MBGs), by solid-state Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR). Lanthanum oxide and oxynitride [La-Si-(Al)-O-(N)] glasses have a large number of potential applications due to their physical properties. LÄS MER
43. Rotational Resonance in the Nuclear Magnetic Resonance of solids
Sammanfattning : This thesis presents new physical phenomena in the rotational resonance NMR of magic-angle spinning solids. The theory of a new class of nuclear spin echoes is developed. LÄS MER
44. Structure and chemical ordering in metallic nanoparticles from atomic scale modeling
Sammanfattning : In the last decades, a wide range of attractive properties have put metallic nanoparticles in the spotlight. These properties, often related to optical response and catalytic performance, are to a large extent dependent on structure and chemical ordering, that is, the distribution of elements in the nanoparticle. 45. The Viking Way : Religion and War in Late Iron Age Scandinavia
Sammanfattning : The social role of magic is a prevalent theme of the medieval Icelandic sagas that claim to describe life several centuries earlier in the Viking Age, and indeed also saturates the Eddic poetry that is our primary source for the mythology and cosmology of the time. However, little archaeological or historical research has been done to explore what this aspect of ritual may really have meant to the men and women of late Iron Age Scandinavia. LÄS MER
