  1. 26. Ethanol-mediated effects on astroglial cells in primary culture. With a focus on acute changes in intracellular Ca2+, cell volume, actin filaments, and gap junction coupling

    Författare :Louise Adermark; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; astrocyte; BaCl2; cell swelling; fura-2; furosemide; ouabain; scrape loading; volume estimation;

    Sammanfattning : The astroglial cells are abundant in the central nervous system (CNS), where they control and regulate the homeostasis of the extracellular milieu. A change in astroglial cell volume, mediated through activation of neuroactive substances or changes in osmolarity, leads to changes in the size and geometry of the extracellular space volume, which could affect the diffusion and concentration of neuroactive substances. 2. 27. Higher Order Calculations for Low Energy Precision Physics

    Författare :Nils Hermansson Truedsson; Teoretisk partikelfysik - Geonomgår omorganisation; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Effective Field Theory; Chiral Perturbation Theory; The Muon Anomalous Magnetic Moment; Lattice Gauge Theory; Finite Volume Effects; Fysicumarkivet A:2019:Hermansson; Effektiv fältteori; Kiral störningsräkning; Myonens anomala magnetiska moment; Gitter-gaugeteori; Ändlig-volymkorrektioner;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis concerns higher order calculations needed for precision physics in the low energy region of particlephysics. Of the four papers it contains, the first two introduce calculations at order p8 in the power countingof chiral perturbation theory, which is an effective field theory of QCD at low energies. 3. 28. Large Volume Injection and Hyphenated Techniques for Gas Chromatographic Determination of PBDEs and Carbazoles in Air

    Författare :Petter Tollbäck; Conny Östman; Tuulia Hyötyläinen; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; large volume injection; hyphenated techniques; LC-GC; GC-MS; mass spectrometry; GC; gas chromatography; carbazoles; PBDE; polybrominated diphenyl ethers; Analytical chemistry; Analytisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis is based on studies in which the suitability of various gas chromatography (GC) injection techniques was examined for the determination of polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs) and carbazoles, two groups of compounds that are thermally labile and/or have high boiling-points. For such substances, it is essential to introduce the samples into the GC system in an appropriate way to avoid degradation and other potential problems. LÄS MER

  4. 29. The right ventricle in volume or pressure overload : Insights from novel imaging techniques

    Författare :Aleksandra Trzebiatowska-Krzynska; Eva Swahn; Niels Erik Nielsen; Lars Wallby; Marcus Carlsson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : This study is inspired by the gap in knowledge regarding the timing of cardiac surgery and interventions in adult patients with congenital heart disease. There are many parameters used assessing right ventricular function; however, most of them have pitfalls. LÄS MER

  5. 30. Detection of Biomolecules Using Volume-Amplified Magnetic Nanobeads

    Författare :Teresa Zardán Gómez de la Torre; Maria Strømme; Peter Svedlindh; Mikkel Fougt Hansen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Magnetic biosensor; magnetic nanobeads; Brownian relaxation; padlock probe; rolling circle amplification; DNA detection; protein detection; Engineering Science with specialization in Nanotechnology and Functional Materials; Teknisk fysik med inriktning mot nanoteknologi och funktionella material;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis describes a new approach to biomolecular analysis, called the volume-amplified magnetic nanobead detection assay (VAM-DNA). It is a sensitive, specific magnetic bioassay that offers a potential platform for the development of low-cost, easy-to-use diagnostic devices. LÄS MER
