  1. 16. Neuromusculoskeletal interfacing of lower limb prostheses

    Författare :Alexander Thesleff; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; OPRA; bone-anchored attachment; Enhanced Osseointegrated Prostheses for the Rehabilitation of Amputees e-OPRA .; Osseointegration; direct skeletal attachment; neuromusculoskeletal interface; OPRA; Osseointegrated Prostheses for the Rehabilitation of Amputees OPRA ; Enhanced Osseointegrated Prostheses for the Rehabilitation of Amputees e-OPRA .;

    Sammanfattning : The method of bone-anchored attachment of limb prostheses via a percutaneous skeletal extension was developed to circumvent commonly reported problems associated with the conventional method of socket attachment. In addition to the direct structural connection, the percutaneous implant may serve as a conduit for bidirectional communication between muscles and nerves within the residual limb and the prosthesis. Sammanfattning : Background: Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a late-onset progressive neurodegenerative disorder. ALS has been traditionally believed to be primarily a motor neuron disease. LÄS MER

  4. 19. Single limb exercises in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease : feasibility, methodology, effects and evidence

    Författare :Andre Nyberg; Karin Wadell; Britta Lindström; Monika Fagevik Olsén; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease; elastic resistance; exercise capacity; health-related quality of life; randomized controlled design; single limb exercises; systematic review; study protocol;

    Sammanfattning : Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a major cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide. COPD is a slowly progressive, inflammatory disease in the airways and lungs, caused mainly by smoking. The inflammation leads to a narrowing of the small airways (airway obstruction) and a destruction of tissue in the lungs. LÄS MER

  5. 20. Molecular mechanisms of salamander limb regeneration

    Författare :Gonçalo M Brito; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Salamanders, like newts and axolotls, stand out among adult vertebrates for their outstanding capacity to regenerate whole body parts and restore complex structures upon injury. One of the best-known examples is their ability to fully regenerate a functional limb. LÄS MER
