  1. 1. Neuromusculoskeletal interfacing of lower limb prostheses

    Författare :Alexander Thesleff; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; OPRA; bone-anchored attachment; Enhanced Osseointegrated Prostheses for the Rehabilitation of Amputees e-OPRA .; Osseointegration; direct skeletal attachment; neuromusculoskeletal interface; OPRA; Osseointegrated Prostheses for the Rehabilitation of Amputees OPRA ; Enhanced Osseointegrated Prostheses for the Rehabilitation of Amputees e-OPRA .;

    Sammanfattning : The method of bone-anchored attachment of limb prostheses via a percutaneous skeletal extension was developed to circumvent commonly reported problems associated with the conventional method of socket attachment. In addition to the direct structural connection, the percutaneous implant may serve as a conduit for bidirectional communication between muscles and nerves within the residual limb and the prosthesis. 2. 2. Towards Natural Control of Artificial Limbs

    Författare :Max Jair Ortiz Catalan; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; epimysial electrodes; robotic prostheses; sensory feedback.; real-time and simultaneous prosthetic control; neurostimulation; pattern recognition; advanced prosthetic control; neural interfaces; artificial limbs; cuff electrodes; bone-anchored prostheses; osseointegration;

    Sammanfattning : The use of implantable electrodes has been long thought as the solution for a more natural control of artificial limbs, as these offer access to long-term stable and physiologically appropriate sources of control, as well as the possibility to elicit appropriate sensory feedback via neurostimulation. Although these ideas have been explored since the 1960’s, the lack of a long-term stable human-machine interface has prevented the utilization of even the simplest implanted electrodes in clinically viable limb prostheses. 3. 3. The Bone Conduction Implant (BCI) - Preclinical Studies, Technical Design and a Clinical Evaluation

    Författare :Hamidreza Taghavi; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Bone conduction implant; Amplitude modulation; Bone anchored hearing aid; Radio frequency power amplifier and inductive link; Long-term implantation.; Low-power systems; Implanted transducer;

    Sammanfattning : The Bone Conduction Implant (BCI) system has been developed as an alternative to the percutaneous bone anchored hearing aid (BAHA) with the advantage that the skin is kept intact. The transducer is permanently implanted and attached to the skull via a flat surface contact to the temporal bone. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Hearing by Bone Conduction. Physical and Physiological Aspects

    Författare :Stefan Stenfelt; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Sammanfattning : Bone conduction as a phenomenon, physically and physiologically, is of vital importance in both the diagnosis of a hearing impairment and the development of bone conduction hearing aids. Understanding hearing by bone conduction is difficult, involving sound transmission by wave motion in a complex geometrical structure of layered bone covered with soft tissue and cartilage, finally received by the highly delicate cochlea. 5. 5. On Direct Drive Bone Conduction Devices - Hearing Rehabilitation and Objective Assessment of Stimulation Methods

    Författare :Cristina Rigato; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Bone Conduction Implant; audiology; comparative study; Direct Drive; active transcutaneous; vibrations; Bone Conduction Devices;

    Sammanfattning : Bone conduction devices (BCDs) rely on the transmission of sound in form of vibrations generated by a transducer to the inner ear via the skull and surrounding soft tissues. Direct drive BCDs stimulate the skull bone directly, either via a skin-penetrating abutment (BAHAs, Bone Anchored Hearing Aids), or with a transducer implanted under intact skin (active transcutaneous devices).
