    Författare :Kathrin Wode; Per Fransson; Roger Henriksson; Lena Sharp; Johanna Hök Nordberg; Vinjar Magne Fønnebø; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; oncology; epidemiology; evidence-based medicine; neoplasms; pancreatic neoplasms; adult; integrative oncology; complementary therapies; treatment refusal; communication; physician-patient relations; mistletoe; palliative care; quality of life; cross-sectional studies; qualitative research; randomized controlled trial; Sweden; Europe; medicin; Medicine;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) are non-conventional health care approaches used in parallel with or instead of conventional medicine. Little is known about Swedish patients’ patterns of complementary CAM use in the context of cancer. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Robust Design Experimentation and Dispersion Effects

    Författare :Martin Arvidsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; estimation procedure; design of experiments; generalized linear models; event matrices; variance component; location effects; split-plot experiments; robust design; identification procedure; dispersion effects;

    Sammanfattning : One of the most common methods in robust design methodology is design of experiments. This method makes it possible to identify settings of design factors that make products and production processes robust with respect to noise factors. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Diet and Gastrointestinal Symptoms in Patients with Prostate Cancer Treated with Radiotherapy

    Författare :Anna Pettersson; Ingela Turesson; Birgitta Johansson; Christina Persson; Clare Shaw; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Dietary intervention; gastrointestinal symptoms; prostate cancer; radiotherapy; randomized controlled trial; health-related quality of life; questionnaire design; nutritional assessment; Medicinsk vetenskap; Medical Science;

    Sammanfattning : Objective The main objective of this thesis was to explore the effects of diet on gastrointestinal symptoms in prostate cancer patients treated with local curative radiotherapy, by evaluating dietary intake prior to treatment (Study I), the psychometric properties of a new questionnaire on patient-reported gastrointestinal side effects (Study II), and the effect of a dietary intervention on acute and long-term gastrointestinal symptoms up to 2 years after radiotherapy completion (Study III-IV).Methods A total of 130 men with localized prostate cancer referred to dose-escalated radiotherapy (ED2 87-102 Gy, α/β=3 Gy) were recruited to a dietary intervention trial. 4. 4. Single limb exercises in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease : feasibility, methodology, effects and evidence

    Författare :Andre Nyberg; Karin Wadell; Britta Lindström; Monika Fagevik Olsén; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease; elastic resistance; exercise capacity; health-related quality of life; randomized controlled design; single limb exercises; systematic review; study protocol;

    Sammanfattning : Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a major cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide. COPD is a slowly progressive, inflammatory disease in the airways and lungs, caused mainly by smoking. The inflammation leads to a narrowing of the small airways (airway obstruction) and a destruction of tissue in the lungs. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Developing Internet Interventions to Improve Psychosocial Outcomes in Breast Cancer Survivors : Attitudes and practices in Portuguese cancer settings

    Författare :Cristina Mendes Santos; Gerhard Andersson; Elisabete Weiderpass; Rui Santana; Irma Verdonck-de Leeuw; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Acceptance and Commitment Therapy ACT ; Attitudes; Breast cancer Survivors; Cognitive Behavioural Therapy CBT ; Digital Mental Health; Internet interventions; Usability; User-centred design; Acceptance and Commitment Therapy ACT ; Attityder; Bröstcanceröverlevande; Kognitiv beteendeterapi KBT ; Digital psykisk hälsa; Internebehandling; Användbarhet; Användarcentrerad design.;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Despite the psychosocial treatment gap in cancer settings and the significant body of evidence on the efficacy and cost-effectiveness of internet interventions, research targeting Breast Cancer Survivors (BCS) is scant, and implementation in clinical settings is limited. While the reasons for this research and implementation gaps are multifactorial, including funding, technical and organizational barriers, the attitudes of the distinct stakeholders in the internet interventions’ ecosystem have been posited to play an important role in this regard.
