11. Impacts of urbanisation on birds : Disentangling the effects of multiple pollutants on avian behaviour and physiology
Sammanfattning : Anthropogenic pollution is a pervasive feature of urbanisation, reaching into ecosystems worldwide and posing novel challenges to wildlife. Not surprisingly, differences in behaviour, and physiology, have been found between urban and rural populations. LÄS MER
12. Hairdressers' occupational exposure to carcinogenic aromatic amines
Sammanfattning : The hairdresser occupation is classified as probably carcinogenic to humans based on an excess risk for urinary bladder cancer, but it is unclear if current work as a hairdresser entails such a risk. The overall aim of this thesis was to investigate if hairdressers have an ongoing exposure to selected carcinogenic aromatic amines. LÄS MER
13. Office work and physical factors : health aspects of electromagnetic fields and light
Sammanfattning : The overall aim of this thesis is to increase our knowledge of the physical environment of office workers with special focus on electromagnetic fields and to address the question of whether electromagnetic fields can directly or indirectly contribute to symptoms or discomfort among video display terminal ( VDT) workers. Furthermore, we have measured light modulation from various commonly used light sources in laboratory conditions and, as a second step, used modulated light as stimulus for provocation of neurophysiological responses in persons with perceived “electrical hypersensitivity” (EHS). 14. Novel intervention approaches after recent exposure to trauma
Sammanfattning : Background: The life-time incidence of exposure to traumatic events is high and can have a profound negative impact on mental health. The majority of individuals exposed to trauma will go through a process of natural recovery and experience short-lived reactions. LÄS MER
15. Bacterioplankton in the light of seasonality and environmental drivers
Sammanfattning : Bacterioplankton are keystone organisms in marine ecosystems. They are important for element cycles, by transforming dissolved organic carbon and other nutrients. Bacterioplankton community composition and productivity rates change in surface waters over spatial and temporal scales. LÄS MER
