  1. 11. Aspects of locomotor evolution in the Carnivora (Mammalia)

    Författare :Ki Andersson; Lars E. Holmer; Lars Werdelin; Margaret E. Lewis; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Morphology; Mammalia; Carnivora; Locomotion; Cranial; Elbow joint; Morphology; Morphometrics; Landmarks; Multivariate statistics; Allometry; Ecomorphology; Dental; Body size; Morfologi; Morphology; cell biology; pathology; Morfologi; cellbiologi; patologi;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis, the shape of the distal humerus trochlea is analysed using landmark-based morphometrics and multivariate methods, with the aim of exploring locomotor evolution in carnivorans. Elbow joint morphology is used together with body size and craniodental morphology to characterize past and present carnivorans. LÄS MER

  2. 12. Beware of Non-Supportive Leaders : Moderating Effects of Supportive Leadership on the Risks and Effects of Workplace Bullying

    Författare :Stefan Blomberg; Michael Rosander; Bengt Ståhlbom; Duncan Lewis; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Workplace bullying; Supportive leadership; Health; Role ambiguity; Hostile work climate; Moderation; Longitudinal; Arbetsplatsmobbning; Stödjande ledarskap; Hälsa; Otydliga roller; Fientligt arbetsklimat; Moderation; Longitudinell;

    Sammanfattning : The aim was to investigate how supportive leadership affects workplace bullying—both in terms of risk factors that may lead to bullying but also in terms of the effects of bullying. The thesis includes three survey studies based on different Swedish cohorts and using different research design in terms of the number of data collection waves and timeframes. LÄS MER

  3. 13. Paleoglaciology of the Tian Shan and Altai Mountains, Central Asia

    Författare :Robin Blomdin; Arjen P. Stroeven; Clas Hättestrand; Jonathan M. Harbor; Lewis Owen; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Paleoglaciology; glacial geomorphological mapping; cosmogenic nuclide dating; Tian Shan; Altai Mountains; Physical Geography; naturgeografi;

    Sammanfattning : The mountain-systems of Central Asia, act as barriers to atmospheric circulation patterns, which in turn impose striking climate gradients across the region. Glaciers are sensitive indicators of climate change and respond to changes in climate gradients over time by advancing during cold and wet periods and receding during warm and dry periods. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Offshore deployments of marine energy converters

    Författare :Maria Angeliki Chatzigiannakou; Irina Temiz; Mats Leijon; Tony Lewis; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :offshore deployments; risk assessment; wave energy converter installation; marine current energy converter installation; economic efficiency; time efficiency; offshore operations; point absorber; hydrodynamic analysis; slack sling criterion; hoisting system failure.;

    Sammanfattning : The depletion warning of non-renewable resources, such as gas, coal and oil, and the imminent effects of climate change turned the attention to clean and fossil fuel-free generated electricity. University research groups worldwide are studying solar, wind, geothermal, biomass and ocean energy harvesting. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Knowledge, Value and Personal experience : Upper secondary students' resources of supporting reasons when arguing socioscientific issues

    Författare :Nina Christenson; Hans-Olof Höglund; Shu-Nu Chang Rundgren; Lars Nyberg; Anders Arnqvist; Jenny Lewis; Karlstads universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; socioscientific issues; informal agumentation; SEE-SEP model; Subject didactics; Ämnesdidaktik; Biology; Biologi;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses on upper secondary students’ use of resources in their supporting reasons when arguing socioscientific issues (SSIs). The skills of argumentation have been emphasized in science education during the past decades and SSIs are proven a good context for learners to enhance skills of argumentation and achieve the goal of scientific literacy.
