  1. 1. Paleoglaciology of Shaluli Shan, southeastern Tibetan Plateau

    Författare :Ping Fu; Arjen Stroeven; Lewis Owen; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Paleoglaciology; Tibetan Plateau; geomorphological mapping; cosmogenic nuclide; Last Glacial Maximum; glacial erosion; basal thermal regime; paleoglaciologi; Tibetanska platån; geomorfologisk kartering; kosmogena isotoper; senaste glaciala maximat; glacial erosion; subglacial temperatur; Physical Geography; naturgeografi;

    Sammanfattning : Reconstructing the paleoglaciation of the Tibetan Plateau is critical to understanding linkages between regional climate changes and global climate changes. This work focuses on the paleoglaciology of the Shaluli Shan Mountain area in the southeastern Tibetan Plateau. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Sedimentology and Geomorphology of Glacial Landforms in Southern Sweden : Studying the Landscape of a Melting Ice Sheet

    Författare :Gustaf Peterson Becher; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Glacial geology; Geomorphology; Sedimentology; Glaciology; Tunnel-valley; Glaciofluvial meltwater corridor; Murtoo; Småland;

    Sammanfattning : Ice sheets are disintegrating due to global warming. One factor controlling ice-sheet behavior is the processes active beneath the ice sheet. In particular, processes connected to glacial meltwater drainage are essential to understand ice-sheets behavior in a warming climate. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Paleoglaciology of the Tian Shan and Altai Mountains, Central Asia

    Författare :Robin Blomdin; Arjen P. Stroeven; Clas Hättestrand; Jonathan M. Harbor; Lewis Owen; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Paleoglaciology; glacial geomorphological mapping; cosmogenic nuclide dating; Tian Shan; Altai Mountains; Physical Geography; naturgeografi;

    Sammanfattning : The mountain-systems of Central Asia, act as barriers to atmospheric circulation patterns, which in turn impose striking climate gradients across the region. Glaciers are sensitive indicators of climate change and respond to changes in climate gradients over time by advancing during cold and wet periods and receding during warm and dry periods. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Retreat pattern and dynamics of glaciers and ice sheets: reconstructions based on meltwater features

    Författare :Martin Margold; Krister Jansson; Arjen Stroeven; Johan Kleman; Karin Helmens; Chris Stokes; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Palaeoglaciology; Cordilleran Ice Sheet; deglaciation; glacial meltwater features; glacial lake; Physical Geography; naturgeografi;

    Sammanfattning : Glaciers and ice sheets covered extensive areas in the Northern Hemisphere during the last glacial period. Subsequently to the Last Glacial Maximum (LGM), they retreated rapidly and, except for Greenland and some other ice caps and glaciers, they vanished after the last glacial termination. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Acoustic characterization of submarine geomorphological features in the Polar Oceans

    Författare :Francis Freire; Richard Gyllencreutz; Martin Jakobsson; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Marine glacial environments contain unique seafloor features resulting from the dynamic glacial processes. Studying these submarine geomorphological features can help us understand the glacial paleo-environments so that we can predict the likely responses of present day glaciers and ice sheets to future changes in the climate.
