Sammanfattning : The aim of the thesis is to shed light on the processes produced when collective performances, here conceptualized as playing events, are performed in urban space in a specific city area, Södermalm in Stockholm between 2012 and 2017. By analyzing urban space as a changing and contradictory space, the study shows how playing events transform everyday space into a playing space. LÄS MER

Sammanfattning : What happens if geography itself is posed as a question instead of as a mere framework for other, geographical, questions? What about the geography of ethnic residential segregation? If we did not start out by postulating individuals, ethnicities, neighbourhoods, nation-states or other geographies, what would it be? This thesis is an attempt to investigate the geography of ethnic residential segregation as a question of radical empiricism. Sammanfattning : Within the context of understanding the opening up of the People’s Republic of China and the city of Shanghai, the aim of the study is to explore ‘space’ in Chinese Communist Party rhetoric, Shanghai spatial planning discourse and personal intercultural engagements. By the term ‘space’, the author refers to an understanding of societal production that integrates space as part of the analysis, taking into account the interplay between official statements on nation building, regional and urban planning, concrete built environments and people’s situated understandings of space.
