  1. 26. Chronic anterior cruciate ligament tear : knee function and knee extensor muscle size, morphology and function before and after surgical reconstruction

    Författare :Lars-Gunnar Elmqvist; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; knee joint; ligaments; articular; surgery; muscle fibre; isokinetics; exercise therapy; muscular atrophy; electromyography;

    Sammanfattning : Knee function was evaluated by knee score, activity level, clinical findings and performance tests, muscle size by computerized tomography (CT), morphology by light (LM) and electron microscopy (EM), muscle function by electromyography (EMG) and isokinetic performance in 29 patients with chronic anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tear. Preoperatively CT disclosed a significant mean atrophy of the quadriceps and nonsignificant changes of the other muscle areas of the injured leg. LÄS MER

  2. 27. Altered movement patterns and deviating muscular activity in individuals with anterior cruciate ligament injury

    Författare :Anna Trulsson; Människan i rörelse: hälsa och rehabilitering; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Movement pattern; Physiotherapy; Motor control; Sensorimotor control; Neuromuscular control; Anterior cruciate ligament; Muscular activity; Motor skills; Single leg squat; Electromyography EMG ; Postural orientation; Assessment; Task performance; Reproducibility of findings; Performance test; Hop test; knee; dynamic joint stability;

    Sammanfattning : The purpose of this thesis was to increase the understanding of altered movement patterns in individuals with anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury in order to improve ACL rehabilitation, and to develop an observational instrument termed Test for Substitution Patterns (TSP) for standardized, quantifiable scoring of altered movement patterns in legs and trunk. In all, 142 participants, 93 with ACL-rupture (37 women) and 49 uninjured participants were investigated. LÄS MER

  3. 28. Cyclooxygenase-2 inhibitors and knee prosthesis surgery

    Författare :Andreas Meunier; Lars Good; Per Aspenberg; Tore Dalén; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agents; administration dosage; Arthroplasty; knee replacement; Surgical blood loss; Surgery; Cyclooxygenase inhibitors; Cyclooxygenase inhibitors; Fracture healing; Isoxazoles; Postoperative pain; Pyrazoles; Sulfonamides; Surgery; Kirurgi;

    Sammanfattning : Adverse effects of cyclooxygenase (COX) inhibitors on bone healing have previously been demonstrated in diaphyseal fracture models in animals. In spite of that, they are widely used as postoperative analgesics in orthopaedic surgery. After joint replacement, a bone repair process starts at the interface between bone and cement. LÄS MER

  4. 29. Motor control of the knee : kinematic and EMG studies of healthy individuals and people with patellofemoral pain

    Författare :Ann-Katrin Stensdotter; Charlotte Häger-Ross; Gunnevi Sundelin; Gertjan Ettema; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Kinematics; Kinetic chain tasks; Knee; Motor Control; Muscle activity; Patellofemoral pain; Unpredictable perturbations; Physiotherapy; Sjukgymnastik fysioterapi;

    Sammanfattning : Patellofemoral pain (PFP) is believed to be associated with deficits in coordination between the different heads of the quadriceps muscle; however, considerable debate exists in the literature regarding the presence of such a deficit. Discrepancies between studies may be explained by differences in experimental tasks, such as whether the task is performed with open (OKC) or closed kinetic chain (CKC), or whether the activity is voluntary or triggered. 5. 30. Kinematics and fixation of total knee arthroplasties : a clinical, radiographic, scintimetric, and roentgen stereophotogrammetric evaluation

    Författare :Kjell G. Nilsson; Johan Kärrholm; Leif Ryd; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Total knee arthroplasty; tibial component; kinematics; micromotion; loosening; scintimetry; roentgen stereophotogrammetric analysis;

    Sammanfattning : Aseptic loosening of the tibial component is an important cause of failure after total knee arthroplasty. Bone destruction often claimed to be caused by the cement makes the revision difficult. In order to treat younger patients, uncemented fixation has been introduced, but the etiology to loosening is multifactorial and only partly known. LÄS MER
