  1. 21. Receptor-ligand interactions of the human 5-HT1B receptor : A site-directed mutagenesis study

    Författare :Charlotta Grånäs; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Neurosciences; 5-hydroxytryptamine; serotonin; 5-HT1B receptor; site-directed mutagenesis; signal transduction; sumatriptan; G protein; Neurovetenskap; Neurology; Neurologi; medicinsk farmakologi; Medical Pharmacology;

    Sammanfattning : The 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT, serotonin)1B receptor is one of thirteen G protein-coupled 5-HT receptors. 5-HT is known to influence temperature regulation, pain, cognition and sexual and feeding behaviours. LÄS MER

  2. 22. Neuropeptide Y Receptors in Human, Guinea pig and Chicken : Cloning, in vitro Pharmacology and in situ Hybridization

    Författare :Sara Holmberg; Helen Cox; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Neurosciences; G-protein coupled receptor; neuropeptide Y; neuropeptide Y receptor; ortholog; chicken; guinea pig; mutagenesis; receptor computer modeling; mRNA in situ hybridization; Neurovetenskap; Neurology; Neurologi; medicinsk farmakologi; Medical Pharmacology;

    Sammanfattning : Neuropeptide Y (NPY) is known to influence a vast number of physiological and behavioral processes such as vasoconstriction, circadian rhythms, feeding, anxiety and memory. Peptides of the NPY family bind to five different cloned G-protein coupled receptor subtypes (Y1, 2, 4-6). LÄS MER

  3. 23. Functional Models in the Search for Pharmacological Treatment of Urinary Incontinence : The Role of Adrenergic, Cholinergic, and Serotonergic Receptors

    Författare :Ali-Reza Modiri; Karl-Erik Andersson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Neurosciences; Neurovetenskap; Neurology; Neurologi; medicinsk farmakologi; Medical Pharmacology;

    Sammanfattning : Stress incontinence and overactive bladder are disorders with a common symptom, urinary incontinence, which is a serious medical and social handicap. Several neurotransmitters regulate the function of the lower urinary tract, including noradrenaline, acetylcholine, and serotonin. LÄS MER

  4. 24. Development of in vitro and ex vivo positron-emitting tracer techniques and their application to neurotrauma

    Författare :Sven Sihver; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Neurosciences; Short-lived radionuclides; in vitro receptor binding; in vitro and ex vivo autoradiography; positron emission tomography; benzodiazepine; muscarinic acetylcholine; and NMDA receptors in CNS; experimental neurotrauma; Neurovetenskap; Neurology; Neurologi; medicinsk farmakologi; Medical Pharmacology;

    Sammanfattning : The use of positron-emitting tracers has been extended beyond tomographic facilities in the last few years, giving rise to a general positron-emitting tracing technique. The methodological part of the present thesis involved the evaluation of the performance of storage phosphor (SP) plates, with tracers labeled with high-energy, short-lived, positron-emitting radionuclides, using homogenized tissue specimens and autoradiography with frozen brain sections. 5. 25. Development of nicotinic receptor ligands for positron emission tomography - from in vitro to in vivo : Binding studies of neuronal nicotinic acetylcholine receptors using different ³H-, ¹1C- and `6Br - labeled ligands

    Författare :Wiebke Sihver; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Neurosciences; nicotinic acetylcholine receptor; PET-ligand; in vitro; in vivo; Alzheimer s disease; Neurovetenskap; Neurology; Neurologi; medicinsk farmakologi; Medical Pharmacology;

    Sammanfattning : Neuronal nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChRs) are involved in central processes, such as cognitive functionand memory, and play a critical role in neuropathological changes in Alzheimer's disease (AD). The in vivocharacterization of nAChRs by positron emission tomography (PET) may increase our understanding of thefunctional implications of these receptors in AD and their early changes during this disease.
