  1. 6. The porcine endosalpinx at different reproductive stages : morphology, immune cell infiltration and cytokine expression

    Författare :Jatesada Jiwakanon; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Fertilization takes place in the lower part of the porcine oviduct and to be successful, a balance between immunological tolerance to allogeneic differences and immune reactivity to foreign pathogens is required. The thesis aims to describe immune cells and morphological changes in different segments [isthmus (Isth), ampulla (Amp) and infundibulum (Inf)] of the porcine oviduct at various stages of the oestrous cycle, after artificial insemination (AI, pre- and post-ovulatory) and during early pregnancy. 2. 7. Functional role of a constitutively active dioxin/Ah receptor in a transgenic mouse model

    Författare :Patrik Andersson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Dioxin Ah receptor; TCDD; dioxin; stomach tumor; osteopontin; peritoneal B1 B cells; transcription factor; gene expression;

    Sammanfattning : The dioxin/ Aryl hydrocarbon receptor is a ligand-activated transcription factor that mediates most (if not all) of the toxic effects of the group of highly potent environmental pollutants collectively called dioxins and PCBs, including the highly toxic compound 2,3,7,8tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin (TCDD). The toxic effects include immune suppression, endocrine disruption, impaired reproduction and carcinogenesis. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Early Rostrocaudal Patterning of the CNS

    Författare :Ulrika Nordström; Thomas Edlund; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; CNS development; neural patterning; neural specification; Wnt; FGF; RA; Isthmic organizer; motor neurons; rostrocaudal patterning.; Developmental biology; Utvecklingsbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : The transformation of an initially uniform population of epiblast cells into an intricately complex central nervous system (CNS) is one of the most fascinating processes during embryonic development. Presumptive neural cells are initially specified as cells of forebrain character. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Endothelin and endothelin receptors in human pregnancy and delivery

    Författare :Kerstin Wolff; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Endothelin; endothelin receptor; human; pregnancy; preeclampsia; delivery;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Endothelin-1 (ET-1) is a 21-amino acid peptide, first described by Yanagisawa et al in 1988. It is one of the most potent constrictors of smooth muscle cells identified to date. LÄS MER
