31. Cellular Effects of Cystatins
Sammanfattning : The exact cellular functions of cystatins are still unknown, and the molecular mechanism leading to their internalization into cells is not yet fully understood. Commonly the cystatins are known to inhibit human lysosomal cysteine proteases (cysteine cathepsins) and it is supposed that this is their primary physiological role. LÄS MER
32. Modeling Human Hematopoiesis Using the CRISPR/Cas9 System
Sammanfattning : Hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) have the ability to self-renew and to give rise to all blood cells of the different lineages, and are thereby responsible for the replenishment of blood cells throughout life. These cells are tightly regulated by extrinsic and intrinsic regulators, such as signals from the bone marrow microenvironment, complex transcription factor networks and epigenetic regulators. 33. Magnetodynamics in Spin Valves and Magnetic Tunnel Junctions with Perpendicular and Tilted Anisotropies
Sammanfattning : Spin-torque transfer (STT) effects have brought spintronics ever closer to practical electronic applications, such as MRAM and active broadband microwave spin-torque oscillator (STO), and have emerged as an increasingly attractive field of research in spin dynamics. Utilizing materials with perpendicular magnetic anisotropy (PMA) in such applications offers several great advantages such as low-current, low-field operation combined with high thermal stability. 34. First principles study of tungsten-based alloys: From defect thermodynamics to phase diagrams
Sammanfattning : Nuclear fusion is a very attractive option for energy production as it is clean, safe and efficient. The major obstacle in construction of fusion power plants is the development of materials that can tolerate the extreme operational condition especially high-energy neutron flux. LÄS MER
35. Characterization of human myeloid progenitors and their differentiation
Sammanfattning : All hematopoietic cells are derived from the hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) in a continuous and dynamic process, regulated by a network of transcription factors in different combinations and extrinsic signals from growth factors (GFs) and other factors in the microenvironment. In the initial stages of hematopoiesis HSCs differentiate to progenitor cells with gradually more restricted lineage potential and according to the most accepted model the first restriction in developmental potential results in commitment to either the lymphoid or the myeloid branch, in the latter followed by commitment to the neutrophil/monocyte and erythrocyte/megakaryocyte lineages.
