  1. 1. GB virus C/hepatitis G virus infection: clinical, histological and epidemiological aspects

    Författare :Per Björkman; Enheten för infektionssjukdomar; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; endoscopy; nosocomial; sexual transmission; parenteral transmission; blood donor; ALT; liver disease; hepatitis; GBV-C HGV; HCV; Infections; Infektioner;

    Sammanfattning : GBV-C/HGV is a blood-borne virus related to the hepatitis C virus. We studied GBV-C/HGV infection in different populations, its transmission, and its association with liver disease. GBV-C/HGV viraemia was detected by PCR in 19/576 blood donors. Donors with normal and elevated ALT levels had similar rates of viraemia (1. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Hepatitis B virus infection and genomic changes from a long-term perspective

    Författare :Jonas Bläckberg; Sektion III; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Infektioner; Infections; cor promoter; precore; occult infection; HBV; mutation;

    Sammanfattning : Hepatitis B virus is a non-cytopathic virus with a small, circular, partially double-stranded DNA of 3.2 kb. It causes acute and chronic inflammatory liver disease and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Retesting of stored sera from an outbreak of acute hepatitis in 1969-72 allowed identification of 126 cases of acute hepatitis B. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Polyomavirus infections in humans

    Författare :Annika Lundstig; Malmö Klinisk mikrobiologi; []

    Sammanfattning : The human polyomaviruses BKV and JCV are endemic and infect > 70% of population worldwide. Primary infections occur during childhood and are largely subclinical. Following primary infection, both viruses persist as latent infections in the kidneys and B lymphocytes. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Imported infections’ importance : global change driving Dengue dynamics

    Författare :Mikkel B. Quam; Joacim Rocklöv; Annelies Wilder-Smith; Eduardo Massad; Dave D. Chadee; Umeå universitet; []

    Sammanfattning : Background Dengue is a significant problem of international health concern. According to the World Health Organization in 2012, globally, dengue is “the most important mosquito borne viral disease” with incidence 30 higher than it had been 50 years ago. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Ticks and Tick-borne Encephalitis Virus : From Nature to Infection

    Författare :Naveed Asghar; Magnus Johansson; Patrik Dinnétz; Travis Taylor; Södertörns högskola; []

    Sammanfattning : Vector-borne diseases are an increasing global threat to humans due to climate changes, elevating the risk of infections transmitted by mosquitos, ticks, and other arthropod vectors. Ixodes ricinus, a common tick in Europe, transmits dangerous tick-borne pathogens to humans. LÄS MER
