  1. 16. Mismatch repair deficiency in colorectal cancer : prognosis and prediction for basic treatment strategies

    Författare :Ioannis Gkekas; Jan Novotny; Karin Strigård; Richard Palmqvist; Ulf Gunnarsson; Christian Sturesson; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; colorectal cancer; defective mismatch repair; prognosis and prediction; Oncology; onkologi;

    Sammanfattning : Colorectal cancer (CRC) remains a significant healthcare problem worldwide, being the third most common cancer and the fourth most frequent cause of cancer death. Environmental and dietary factors such as alcohol abuse, cigarette smoking, and genetic predisposition seem to constitute the main aetiologies. LÄS MER

  2. 17. Hormone-Sensitive Lipase, new roles for an old enzyme

    Författare :Ola Hansson; diabetes och endokrinologi Genomik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Diabetes; Vitamin A; Inflammation; Medicine human and vertebrates ; Medicin människa och djur ; Metabolism; Hormone-Sensitive Lipase; Proteomics; Obesity; White adipose tissue; Skeletal muscle;

    Sammanfattning : Hormone-sensitive lipase (HSL) has a wide tissue distribution with the highest expression found in white adipose tissue (WAT). HSL also has a unique ability to hydrolyze a large panel of substrates including acylglycerols, cholesteryl esters and retinyl esters. HSL is potentially a new drug target for the treatment of obesity and type II diabetes. LÄS MER

  3. 18. Mismatch Repair Deficient Cancer Diagnostic Aspects in Colorectal Cancer and the Role of Urological Cancer in Lynch Syndrome

    Författare :Patrick Joost; Bröstcancer-genetik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Mismatch repair; Lynch syndrome; immunohistochemistry; microsatellite instability; heterogeneity; cumulative incidence; colorectal cancer; urothelial cancer; prostate cancer; renal cell cancer;

    Sammanfattning : Mismatch repair (MMR) deficiency is carcinogenic and can either have somatic/sporadic causes (i.e. epigenetic silencing or somatic inactivation) or hereditary causes (Lynch syndrome due to a germline mutation in one of the MMR genes ¬- MLH1, MSH2, MSH6, PMS2). LÄS MER
