11. Drip Sealing Grouting of Tunnels in Crystalline Rock: Conceptualisation and Technical Strategies
Sammanfattning : A conceptual model of the groundwater hydraulic conditions around the tunnel contour in ancient brittle crystalline rocks has been developed and verified. The general aim has been to reach an understanding of the groundwater conditions in and close to the tunnel roof where dripping takes place and to propose technical and practical strategies for waterproofing. 12. Turbulence in the sea ice impacted Southern Ocean and its implications for primary production and carbon export
Sammanfattning : The sea ice impacted Southern Ocean, south of the Antarctic Circumpolar Current, is one of the most important regions on earth for the cycling of carbon and distribution of heat and freshwater around the globe. Here, along-isopycnal upwelling of warm, carbon-rich circumpolar deep water coincides with the annual growth and melt of Antarctic sea ice that represents one of the worlds largest surface water transformations. 13. The role of ice in planet formation
Sammanfattning : As stars form, they are surrounded by a disc composed of gas, dust and ice – the protoplanetary disc, where solids grow from micrometre-sized dust to planets. Small dust grows readily by collisions. LÄS MER
14. Palsa Growth and Decay in Northern Sweden : Climatic and Environmental Controls
Sammanfattning : This thesis outlines the development and decay of palsas in northern Sweden in relation to climatic and environmental factors. Palsas were investigated on morphology, vegetation, peat porosity, ground temperature and local climate in four bogs situated on a north-south gradient in northern Sweden. LÄS MER
15. Trafikpolitik och regional omvandling : Beslutsprocesserna om isbrytningen längs Norrlandskusten 1940-1975
Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis is to understand the decision-making processes concerning ice-breaking along the coast of Norrland, with the specific aim to analyse the activities of regional interest groups in the Norrland region and government agents at different administrative levels at the key stages of the decision-making processes: initiation, drafting and decision-making. The thesis also explores how institutional factors at different administrative levels affected the agents that were involved at those stages of the decision-making processes. LÄS MER
