  1. 6. Structure, Dynamics and Phase Behaviour of Charged Soft Colloidal Dispersions

    Författare :Sofi Nöjd; Fysikalisk kemi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Microgels; directed self-assembly; interaction potentials; scattering methods; confocal laser scanning microscopy; dielectric spectroscopy;

    Sammanfattning : Soft and deformable ionic microgels such as poly(N-isopropylacrylamide-co-acrylic acid), PNIPAM-co-AA, microgels have shown to be a versatile alternative to the already well-established hard sphere model systems. Their tuneable interaction potential makes them well suited as model systems to study the phase behaviour found for particles interacting via a soft isotropic potential. LÄS MER

  2. 7. NMR Diffusometry and Dynamic NMR Microscopy Studies of Colloidal Systems

    Författare :Helena Wassenius; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; diffusion behaviour; dynamic NMR microscopy; NMR diffusometry; core-shell latex particles; NMR velocimetry; rheology; colloidal systems;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis, the NMR diffusometry and dynamic NMR microscopy methods were shown to be useful techniques with a great potential for the study of colloidal systems. In Paper I-II, NMR diffusometry was used to study the behaviour of surfactant and polymer molecules that are normally important components in colloidal dispersions and emulsions. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Synthesising colloidal molecules with tunable interactions from soft responsive microgel particles

    Författare :Linda Månsson; NanoLund: Centre for Nanoscience; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; microgels; polymers; colloids; colloidal synthesis; self-assembly; material scaince; confocal microscopy; light scattering; microgels; polymers; colloids; colloidal synthesis; self-assembly; material science; confocal microscopy; light scattering;

    Sammanfattning : Colloidal self-assembly is an attractive bottom-up approach to new superstructures and materials with new properties. However, the typical spherical shape and isotropic interaction potential limit the repertoire of ordered structures that can be obtained from synthetic colloids. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Colloidal interactions obtained from total internal reflection microscopy measurements and scattering data

    Författare :Moheb Nayeri; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; total internal reflection microscopy; colloidal stability; van der Waals interaction; Debye length; surfactants; depletion; scattering; colloidal stability;

    Sammanfattning : The scattering of radiation can be used to extract information about the interactions between colloidal (10^{-7}-10^{-3} cm radius) particles suspended in liquids. As colloidal interactions incorporate entropic effects they are weak and while system specific they are governed by a number of general mechanisms. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Force measurements using scanning probe microscopy : Applications to advanced powder processing

    Författare :Anders Meurk; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :atomic force microscope; AFM; SPM; van der Waals interaction; DLVO-theory; surface forces; colloidal probe; force curve; friction; adhesion; stick-slip; cantilever; calibration; spring constant; silicon nitride; iron; silica;

    Sammanfattning : The object of this thesis is to apply scanning probemicroscopy (SPM) to the field of advanced powder processing.Measurement of interparticle surface forces at conditionsrelevant to ceramic processing has been performed together withthorough studies of powder friction. LÄS MER
