  1. 1. Flight strategies in migrating birds: when and how to fly

    Författare :Martin Green; Biodiversitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; geese; waders; terns; Animal ecology; Djurekologi; wind tunnel; radio telemetry; satellite telemetry; radar; formation flight; flight speed adjustment; wind drift; energy savings; departure decisions; bird migration; wind;

    Sammanfattning : Wind has a profound influence on migrating birds since it inevitably will influence travel time and energy expenditure. In this thesis I investigate how migrating birds are affected by, and use winds. LÄS MER

  2. 2. User Preferred Trajectories in Commercial Aircraft Operation: Design and Implementation

    Författare :Hanyo Vera Anders; Arthur Rizzi; Tobias Andersson; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; aeronautics; air traffic management; aircraft operation; flygteknik; flygledning; Engineering mechanics; Teknisk mekanik;

    Sammanfattning : This report describes how an aircraft creates and flies its User Preferred Trajectory from take-off to landing, based on the objectives and constraints the aircraft is subjected to from a technological and operational viewpoint. A basic description of commercial aircraft operation is given, with an emphasis on identifying the different stakeholders (Air Navigation Service Providers, Airline Operation Center, Pilot/Aircraft, Airport and Civil Aviation Authority). 3. 3. Allocation of body resources to reproduction in butterflies

    Författare :Fredrik Stjernholm; Bengt Karlsson; Christer Wiklund; Jane K. Hill; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Biology; Zoology; Ecology; Butterflies; Reproduction; Life histories; Trade-offs; Resource use; Terrestrial; freshwater and marine ecology; Terrestisk; limnisk och marin ekologi;

    Sammanfattning : The life-history of an organism can be studied and understood in terms of acquisition and expenditure of resources. In butterflies, the use of resources for reproduction has been the focus of much research due to the possibility to easily quantify both the input of resources from different sources over the life-cycle as well as the partitioning of these resources to reproduction. 4. 4. Recognition and modulation of olfactory signals in the noctuid moth spodoptera littoralis

    Författare :Ahmed Saveer; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Food, mates and host plants are essential resources for plant-feeding insects. Optimal resource localization that fulfils the physiological need and reproductive goals of an insect is of utmost importance. LÄS MER
