Sammanfattning : Methods for structural design, control, and testing offlexible aircraft structures are considered. Focus is onnonconventional aircraft con- figurations and control concepts. The interaction between analysis and testing is a central topicand all studies include validation testing and comparisonbetween computational and experimental results. Sammanfattning : Aircrafttrajectory optimization is traditionally used forminimizing fuel consumption or time when going from one flightstate to another. This thesis presents a possible approach toincorporate tactical constraints in aircraft trajectoryoptimization. The stealth technology of today focuses on making thetactics already in use more effective. LÄS MER
Sammanfattning : This thesis describes various aspects of the development of a multi-disciplinary aero engine conceptual design tool, TERA2020 (Techno-economic, Environmental and Risk Assessment for 2020), based on an explicit algorithm that considers: engine performance, engine aerodynamic and mechanical design, aircraft design and performance, emissions prediction and environmental impact, engine and airframe noise, and production, maintenance and direct operating costs. As part of this research effort, a newly-derived semi-empirical NOx correlation for modern rich-burn single-annular combustors is proposed. Sammanfattning : When there is a perturbation in a carefully planned flight schedule, e.g. an aircraft breakdown, it is important to minimize the negative consequences of this disturbance. In this thesis, a model and a number of solution strategies for the Flight Perturbation Problem is presented. LÄS MER
Sammanfattning : The Aurora is a visual manifestation of the complex plasma processes that occur as the solar wind interacts with the Earth’s magnetosphere and ionosphere. Therefore, studies of the aurora can lead to better understanding of the near-Earth space environment and of fundamental physical processes. LÄS MER
