  1. 21. Genetic markers in rheumatoid arthritis

    Författare :Solbritt Rantapää Dahlqvist; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Rheumatoid arthritis; family history; genetic marker; HLA B27; HLA DR4; properdin factor B; C3 complement; -antitrypsin; haptoglobin; transferrin;

    Sammanfattning : Genetic as well as environmental factors are believed to be of importance in the etiology of rheumatoid arthritis (RA). There are a number of previous studies of genetic markers in RA, but so far no genetic linkage and only a few associations have been found. Of the associations only one (with the HLA antigen DR4) appears to be well documented. LÄS MER

  2. 22. Recurrent Aphthous Stomatitis - A study, with emphasis on host genetics, oral microbiota composition, and immunoregulatory networks

    Författare :Maria Bankvall; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Aphthous stomatitis; Oral mucosa; Oral medicine; Genome-wide association study; Genetic linkage; Association; Genetic polymorphism; Microbiota; Restriction fragment length polymorphism; Antigen-presenting cell; T-lymphocyte; Lymph node; Flow cytometry;

    Sammanfattning : Recurrent aphthous stomatitis (RAS) is one of the most common oral mucosal lesions. The aetiology is unknown and currently there is no consensus regarding suitable treatment regimens. LÄS MER

  3. 23. On the evolutionary effects of linkage and deleterious mutations in small populations

    Författare :Snæbjörn Pálsson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Developmental biology; Breeding systems; Daphnia pulex; deleterious mutations; linkage; neutral variation; Utvecklingsbiologi; Developmental biology; Utvecklingsbiologi; Genetics; genetik;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis is to evaluate the effect of deleterious mutations and linkage on variation in neutral markers and fitness in small populations. The study is based on two main approaches, one by using computer simulations, the other by exploring genetic variation in a cyclical parthenogen, Daphnia pulex (Crustacea: Cladocera). LÄS MER

  4. 24. Genetic studies of hypospadias

    Författare :Louise Frisén; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Hypospadias; genetic; complex trait; low birth weight; twin study; segregation analysis; genome-wide linkage analysis; mutation analysis; HOXA13 gene;

    Sammanfattning : Hypospadias is defined as an abnormal opening of the urethra on the underside of the penis. It is a frequently found malformation with an incidence of 3 per 1000 males. The aim of this thesis was to identify genetic and environmental factors in the pathogenesis of hypospadias. LÄS MER

  5. 25. Genetic studies on Systemic Lupus Erythematosus : A fine mapping and candidate gene approach

    Författare :Veronica Magnusson; Jerry Lanchbury; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Molecular genetics; Systemic Lupus Erythematosus; complex disease; linkage analysis; candidate gene; association studies; Genetik; Genetics; Genetik; medicinsk genetik; Medical Genetics;

    Sammanfattning : Linkage in the 2q37 region was evaluated using microsatellite markers in multi-case families from Sweden, Iceland and Norway. Both the two-point and the multipoint linkage analysis show highly significant LOD scores (Z=4.51 and 6.03, respectively). LÄS MER
