    Sammanfattning : Since the 1900’s it has been known that microorganisms are capable of generating electrical power through extracellular electron transfer by converting the energy found organic compounds (Potter, 1911). Microbial fuel cells (MFCs) has garnered more attention recently, and have shown promise in several applications, including wastewater treatment (Yakar et al. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Alcohol Flexible Dual-Fuel Direct Injection Engine

    Författare :Michael Saccullo; Chalmers University of Technology; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Fuel spray; Dual-fuel; Dual-direct injection; E85; Ethanol; Heavy duty engine; Diffusion combustion; Methanol;

    Sammanfattning : Laws concerning emissions from HD internal combustion engines are becoming increasingly stringent in terms of local emissions and emissions concerning global warming such as lowering tailpipe CO2. New engine technologies are needed to satisfy these new requirements and to reduce fossil fuel dependency and increase renewable fuels in the transportation sector. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Gamma Spectroscopy and Gamma Emission Tomography for Fuel Performance Characterization of Irradiated Nuclear Fuel Assemblies

    Författare :Scott Holcombe; Staffan Jacobsson Svärd; Hans-Urs Zwicky; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Nuclear fuel performance; Nuclear fuel assemblies; Gamma emission tomography; Gamma spectroscopy;

    Sammanfattning : Gamma spectroscopy and gamma emission tomography are two non-destructive measurement techniques for assessing the performance of nuclear fuel which have been investigated in this thesis for existing and novel applications through theoretical studies and experimental demonstrations. For assessment of individual fuel rods using gamma spectroscopy, fuel assemblies are dismantled so that the fuel rods may be measured separately, which is time-consuming and may cause damage to the fuel.
