  1. 1. Ash chemistry and fuel design focusing on combustion of phosphorus-rich biomass

    Författare :Nils Skoglund; Dan Boström; Rainer Backman; Franz Winter; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; phosphorus; biomass; combustion; ash chemistry; fuel design; ash transformation; phosphorus-rich; ash-forming elements; fuel fingerprint; ash transformation reactions; Lewis base; Lewis acid; oorganisk kemi; Inorganic Chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : Biomass is increasingly used as a feedstock in global energy production. This may present operational challenges in energy conversion processes which are related to the inorganic content of these biomasses. As a larger variety of biomass is used the need for a basic understanding of ash transformation reactions becomes increasingly important. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Fate of Trace Elements in Thermochemical Conversion of Waste Fuels Using Oxygen Carriers

    Författare :Ivana Stanicic; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Oxygen Carrier Aided Combustion; X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy; Ash interaction; Chemical Looping Technologies; Thermodynamic Calculations; Waste; Oxygen Carriers; Ilmenite; Trace Elements;

    Sammanfattning : The metals zinc, copper and lead are amongst the more abundant trace elements in waste fuels. The fate of these elements is important to study because they can affect the thermochemical conversion process and end up in ashes. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Chemical Properties of FBC Ashes

    Författare :Britt-Marie Steenari; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; straw ash; environmental impact of ash handling; sintering; deposits; fouling; wood ash recycling; FBC; ash leaching; ash chemistry; PFBC; forest fertiliser; ash hydration reactions; fuel additives; wood ash characteristics; CaS; ash melting; plant nutrient recycling;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis several aspects of ash chemistry are discussed. An issue of primary concern for boiler operators is the formation of ash deposits. New biomass fuels are introduced, many of which have unfavourable ash melting behaviour due to high levels of alkali metal species and chlorine. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Impact of Ash on the Properties of Fluidized Bed Materials

    Författare :Robin Faust; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; ash interaction; layer formation; agglomeration; fluidized bed; catalytic tar removal; oxygen carrying; bed material;

    Sammanfattning : The utilization of the fluidized bed technology offers the possibility of thermally converting a large variety of biogenic feedstocks. The characteristics of the bed material which is used in the process play a major role regarding the overall process performance. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Distribution and chemical association of trace elements in incinerator residues and mining waste from a leaching perspective

    Författare :Naeem Saqib; Mattias Bäckström; Stefan Karlsson; William Mayes; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; trace elements; partitioning; fly ash; bottom ash; speciation; association; risk assessment; wood waste; incineration; mining waste; Chemistry; Kemi;

    Sammanfattning : Incineration is a mainstream strategy for solid waste management in Sweden and all over the world. Improved knowledge and understanding about the distribution of trace elements (in ashes) during incineration, and how trace element partitioning respond to the changes in waste composition, are important in terms of combustion process optimization and plant efficiency.
