  2. 2. Segmented HPGe detectors for post-irradiation examination of nuclear fuel : Design and demonstration in gamma emission tomography

    Författare :Vikram Rathore; Peter Andersson; Erik Andersson Sundén; Ane Håkansson; Andrew Boston; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Segmented HPGe detector; Nuclear fuel; Post-irradiation examination; Nuclear fuel diagnostics; Gamma emission tomography; Gamma spectroscopy; Non-destructive fuel testing; Applied Nuclear Physics; Tillämpad kärnfysik;

    Sammanfattning : Gamma emission tomography (GET) is a proven non-invasive technique for post-irradiation examination of nuclear fuel. In the past, collimated HPGe detectors were used for GET measurements due to their good energy resolution. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Gamma Spectroscopy and Gamma Emission Tomography for Fuel Performance Characterization of Irradiated Nuclear Fuel Assemblies

    Författare :Scott Holcombe; Staffan Jacobsson Svärd; Hans-Urs Zwicky; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Nuclear fuel performance; Nuclear fuel assemblies; Gamma emission tomography; Gamma spectroscopy;

    Sammanfattning : Gamma spectroscopy and gamma emission tomography are two non-destructive measurement techniques for assessing the performance of nuclear fuel which have been investigated in this thesis for existing and novel applications through theoretical studies and experimental demonstrations. For assessment of individual fuel rods using gamma spectroscopy, fuel assemblies are dismantled so that the fuel rods may be measured separately, which is time-consuming and may cause damage to the fuel. 4. 4. Improvements of SPECT by a new collimator design and simultaneous transmission-emission tomography

    Författare :Shahrokh Kimiaei; Marija Ivanovic; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Gamma camera; SPECT; Emission tomography; Transmission tomography; Planar-concave collimators; Spatial resolution; Other physics; Övrig fysik; medicinsk strålningsfysik; Medical Radiation Physics;

    Sammanfattning : SPECT (Single Photon Emission Computed Tomography) and planar scintigraphy are the most established and world wide-spread nuclear medicine imaging techniques for clinical use today. SPECT is a tomographic technique that allows 3-D visualization of biochemical processes or physiological flow in the human body by external detection of photons from an administered radiopharmaceutical. 5. 5. Gamma radiation techniques for non-destructive post-irradiation examination of nuclear fuel : Predicting performance and optimizing instrument design

    Författare :Lorenzo Senis; Peter Andersson; Erik Andersson Sundén; Ane Håkansson; Fabiola Cappia; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Collimated gamma spectroscopy; Gamma emission tomography; Gamma transmission micro-densitometry; Pareto optimization; Post-irradiation examination; Applied Nuclear Physics; Tillämpad kärnfysik;

    Sammanfattning : Collimated gamma-based techniques are widely used to study nuclear fuel, especially for non-destructive post-irradiation examination (PIE). Examples of such techniques include gamma emission tomography (GET) and gamma transmission densitometry (GTD). LÄS MER
