  1. 1. Accelerate ageing of refuse-derived-fuel (RDF) fly ashes

    Författare :Evelina Brännvall; Britt-Marie Steenari; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Waste Science and Technology; Avfallsteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Ashes have properties that can be exploited in various applications, e.g. some ashes can be used in the construction of barriers in a landfill final top cover. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Polygeneration District Heating and Cooling Systems Based on Renewable Resources

    Författare :Natalia Kabalina; Mário Manuel Gonçalves Costa; Weihong Yang; Andrew Martin; Luis Barreiros Martins; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; district heating and cooling systems; polygeneration; refuse derived fuel; municipal solid waste; gasification.; Energy Technology; Energiteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Traditional district heating (DH) and district heating and cooling (DHC) systems have to address two principal challenges: phase-out of fossil fuels in favor of renewables; and profit instability related to declines in heating and cooling demands along with electricity price fluctuations. These obstacles can be overcome at once through upgrading these systems to a polygeneration concept by means of a retrofitted air-steam gasifier and gas upgrading equipment, enabling the use of renewable feedstocks such as refuse derived fuel (RDF) and municipal solid waste (MSW). 3. 3. Characterisation of Fuels and Fly Ashes from Co-Combustion of Biofuels and Waste Fuels in a Fluidised Bed Boiler. A Phosphorus and Alkali Perspective

    Författare :Anita Pettersson; Högskolan i Borås; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; phosphorus recovery; co-combustion; fluidised bed combustion; olivine; Biofuels; zeolites; fertiliser; extraction; refuse derived fuels; kaolin; alkali; sulphur; ash; municipal sewage sludge;

    Sammanfattning : In the efforts to create sustainable production of heat and power and to reduce the net CO2 emissions to the atmosphere, alternative fuels are today being utilised. These fuels are, for example, biofuels and waste derived fuels such as different residues from the agricultural sector and the pulp and paper industry, municipal sewage sludge and municipal sorted solid waste. 4. 4. Modelling Towards Control of Dynamic Systems : Applications on RDF Fired CFB Performance and DHN Distribution

    Författare :Nathan Zimmerman; Konstantinos Kyprianidis; Carl-Fredrik Lindberg; Erik Dahlquist; Natasa Nord; Mälardalens universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Heat and Power; Circulating Fluidized Bed Boiler; District Heating; Model Predictive Control; Feed-Forward; CHP; Energy- and Environmental Engineering; energi- och miljöteknik;

    Sammanfattning : The combination of global warming along with increasing energy demand necessitates the importance of improving processes pertaining to the production and consumption of energy in combined heat and power plants. This thesis brings to light transient factors currently burdening process performance for circulating fluidized bed boilers (CFBs) combusting refuse derived fuels (RDFs) and district heating networks (DHN). 5. 5. Suitability of fly ash for construction and land applications

    Författare :Evelina Brännvall; Alessandra Polettini; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Waste Science and Technology; Avfallsteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Municipal solid waste incineration fly ash is often landfilled or sent abroad for stabilization because it is considered a hazardous waste. These approaches to fly ash are both costly, and highlight the need for alternative and sustainable ash recycling. LÄS MER
