26. Preparedness for mass-casualty attacks on public transportation
Sammanfattning : Background: Public transportation constitutes a vulnerable sector in modern day society with a high probability of generating mass casualties if attacked. By preparing for mass-casualty attacks (MCAs), response can become more effective and public transportation can become a less rewarding target. LÄS MER
27. Modeling and simulation of electro-viscoelastic polymers
Sammanfattning : The electroactive polymer materials considered in this work react to electric stimuli by producing deformations. In some cases, the electrically induced deformations are moderate, while in other cases they can be very large and the specimen is stretched to more than twice its original length. LÄS MER
28. Control of Cracking due to Imposed Strains in Concrete Structures
Sammanfattning : This thesis is concerned with crack control due to imposed deformations in concrete structures. The objective of crack control may either be to prevent cracking or to limit the crack widths. The aim here is to increase the knowledge in both fields for some common structures. Five papers are included and the three last concern crack development. LÄS MER
29. Development of Encapsulated UN-UO₂ Accident Tolerant Fuel
Sammanfattning : Accident tolerant fuels (ATFs) are designed to endure a severe accident in the reactor core longer than the standard UO2-Zr alloy systems used in light water reactors (LWRs). Composite fuels such as UN-UO2 are being considered as an ATF concept to address the lower oxidation resistance of the UN fuel from a safety perspective for use in LWRs, whilst improving the in-reactor behaviour of the UO2 fuel. 30. Numerical analysis of concrete elements strengthened with carbon fiber reinforced polymers
Sammanfattning : Due to the growing number of ageing reinforced concrete structures such as buildings and bridges, there is an increasing interest in condition assessment and strengthening methods. Deterioration processes and demands for higher loads contribute to this interest. LÄS MER
