36. Mechanical behaviour of hardwoods : effects from cellular and cell wall structures
37. Micromechanics of softwoods in the transverse plane : effects on cell and annual ring scales
Sammanfattning : Transverse mechanical properties of wood are important in many practial applications and an interesting scientific subject. A very low transverse shear modulus has been identified in spruce, which causes large strain concentrations in wood structures. LÄS MER
38. Development of High-Protein Oat for the Feed and Food Industry
Sammanfattning : Oats are an excellent source of high-quality proteins, with a favourable amino acid composition. Oat proteins therefore have greatpotential to complement existing animal and plant protein sources, especially if the protein content could be increased. In this thesis,high-protein oat lines were identified and characterised. LÄS MER
39. Chronic anterior cruciate ligament tear : knee function and knee extensor muscle size, morphology and function before and after surgical reconstruction
Sammanfattning : Knee function was evaluated by knee score, activity level, clinical findings and performance tests, muscle size by computerized tomography (CT), morphology by light (LM) and electron microscopy (EM), muscle function by electromyography (EMG) and isokinetic performance in 29 patients with chronic anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tear. Preoperatively CT disclosed a significant mean atrophy of the quadriceps and nonsignificant changes of the other muscle areas of the injured leg. LÄS MER
40. Development of thermoplastic biocomposites based on aligned hybrid yarns for fast composite manufacturing
Sammanfattning : The interest in natural fibres as reinforcement for composite materials has been steadily increasing due to their attractive mechanical properties and the possibility of making more eco-friendly materials. Currently, various alternatives are being introduced for commercial applications, as fibres such as hemp, jute and flax exhibit properties, which make them appropriate for structural composite components.
